Wind in the Willows

… via pete. It’s audiobook and only audio, which presents some obstacles for HQ. With films, it’s better they’re embedded, not just linked back, as it cuts out ads. However, this one refuses to embed, which means it’s on YT and is therefore ad-ridden, unless you have your own mechanism to prevent that.

That’s the gamut we run every time we bring in outside content, chaps and chapesses.

  1. Some years ago I came across a chapter which was missing from the book I grew up with.

“The chapter often referred to as a “deleted” or sometimes omitted chapter in The Wind in the Willows is “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn” (Chapter VII in some editions, often misidentified in discussions about omissions). While not legally removed from the book, it is frequently skipped by readers or suggested for omission because it is a deeply lyrical, slow-paced, and mystical chapter focused on Rat and Mole finding Portly, the young otter, with the god Pan, which deviates from the main adventures of Toad.”

  2. James …it’s an audio play from 1960 – I’ve played it a few times and for me it’s ad free – my understanding is that ad inclusion is up to the uploader. There are no ads at UK Column News or at Greg Carlwood’s excellent ‘The Higherside Chats’ … although I notice they’ve been sneaked into some of his old ones…

Thanks for that link IYE, here’s a reading of the book with chapter 7 on Archive
