11. The Trigger

This topic is partly Shona and Watch if for Days (a Columbo episode review), pistols v revolvers, plus this idea of sudden triggering, even after a very long time.

Shona … this is a gal whose voice many find listenable and endearing, plus we admire her deep dive research, just as with Grifty imho. For me, it’s a pity her topic is old Columbo episodes but they’re her interest, so there we are.

The murder itself, bringing in suppressors, revolvers and pistols, I need not address, as Shona does it, plus some commenters. The bit I’d like to address is what MMutR mentioned … that sometimes a sudden decision is based on some longheld resentment or a lingering dislike or whatever, but nothing actually happens for maybe twenty years, then suddenly it does … maybe terminally.

MMutR used the example of an Azimov story I think it was where a long time Gardener, defender, all round useful chap, was going to be promoted by the Emperor, the Gardener did not want, he was happy as Gardener, as it got him outdoors. Now he’d be stuck inside with those sorts of people.

He begged the Emperor, the Emperor in his regal, OTT way, said no, you deserve no less than this promotion, the Gardener killed him.

All right, to the Trigger in the Columbo. The PA, helper, offsider, campaign manager, told the Senator (at 8:43) it would be done Y way, the Candidate wanted Z way. The CM said nope, I’ve looked after you till now, have always done it well, we’re doing it my way.

The look on the Candidate’s face should have been the warning, but worse was to come. The CM turned upon going through the door and said something like: “I know where the bodies are hidden.”

Er. Um. 😳

I have a short tale from today. There is a raped girl on X and we mutually follow. She is right down on Rupert Lowe for wanting to head this inquiry, she virtually says he’s a megalomaniac toxic male type. Anyway, she likes Kemi’s manner, plus Nige is soft too, she’s thinking of rejoining the Tories.
