The photo says there’s something fake about the yarn. People who have been isolated for 42 years would not look so well equipped.
Yes, I did wonder how the man’s jacket had survived in decent condition for so long in that harsh environment, it would carry patches and signs of stitching.
Remembering today my third Winter Deployment in 1986 – Exercise Pendulum North. This was 2 years before 45 Commando handed-in their SLR’s and deployed to Norway with the new SA80 rifle. Didn’t go well; bits fell off, constantly jamming.
