  1. 13. Appropriate on Christmas Day today – indeed it is..

    Fyodor Dostoyevsky:

Dostoyevsky is usually regarded as one of the finest novelists who ever lived. Literary modernism, existentialism, and various schools of psychology, theology, and literary criticism have been profoundly shaped by his ideas. His works are often called prophetic because he so accurately predicted how Russia’s revolutionaries would behave if they came to power – Britannica

  2. 15. The essentially fascistic nature of left leaning politics – was something I learned whilst attending an activist workshop in Filton, Bristol in the early 90’s. I took my Dad and my Grandad’s idea of the worker’s party with me to this gathering, however by day’s end I realised the folks doing the lecturing were nothing more than godless, self-hating ideologues. Generational loyalty kept me voting for them but by decade’s end I’d had enough. My next vote was to no party: it went to Leave in the 2016 referendum on our membership of the European Union. Who to vote for has been problematic for a while now, whereas before it was easy I look now at the whole of it and that’s when despair grips me. That is all.

    ……

    JH: Yes.

  3. 12. The people who maintain the lifts (elevators, for those in the colonies) Shirley have a job for life.
