16. It has long been evident that government policy has favoured multinational corporates over small/medium enterprises. To operate anywhere in the west you need accreditation and compliance, complex tax laws, and a plethora of other regulations. Corporates can brush all this off with the army of lawyers and accountants they employ. SMEs struggle to survive until they are absorbed into corporates if they are successful or simply give up the ghost.
