Or take your bike on the train and cycle the Hitchin to Luton stretch. That’s what a real Cambridge chap would do. In short: on yer tod, use the bike. If en famille, use the Uber – or even (gasp!) drive your own car.
8. Years ago I had a county game (bowls) in Cambridge. There was no-one in Herts near me in St. Albans to provide a lift. I took the rail route, St. Albans to St. Pancras, King’s Cross to Cambridge. Long journey but an enjoyable one. I arrived at the club after a few beers and pub meal in good time for the game. There was some concern as no other Herts players had arrived closer to game start. An accident on the A10 (M10?) had delayed the whole darned lot!
