Sunday [2 to 4]

(0828) Second start to the day, Steve has returned, IYE has dropped drops and so has one of the Left, or maybe a libertarian, or a deep delver afa I can see, at NOWP … reason I’ve left it up is it’s part of the mix on Charlie Kirk … CK himself said we should hear out opposed views … bless his patience, which I lack. (0946)

3. DAD at 1151

… and glad I am that he was able … there are reasons.

a) The first returns of migrants from the United Kingdom to France by plane under the “one-for-one” migration agreement concluded in July will take place “at the beginning of next week,” an airport source told AFP, and “the first departures from France next Saturday,” according to the Interior Ministry.

b) An ancestral symbol between the Bethmale and Eychelles valleys, the cross at the Col de la Crouzette was destroyed again during the weekend of August 15, 2025. It was destroyed on site, likely with a sledgehammer.

c) Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin Tyler Robinson was living with a transgender partner who was in the process of transitioning from male to female, a law enforcement source confirmed to The Post Saturday.

d) Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni lambasted those on the political left who celebrated or minimised the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and said that the left in Italy must be held accountable for its role in fomenting hatred against their political opponents.

e) According to the BBC, three Austrian nuns in their eighties – Sister Bernadette (88), Sister Regina (86) and Sister Rita (82) – fled the Catholic nursing home where they had been placed against their will in December 2023, to return to their former convent at Kloster Goldenstein in Elsbethen, near Salzburg.

2. The Case of the Perjured Parrot

It was one of Earl Stanley Gardner’s, a lesser tome perhaps, and yet it had some real lessons in there on how to investigate … and how not to. Sgt Holcombe is mentioned at the end of that link but not the quote. Thus I must paraphrase the quote as far as I can recall it.

And given that I could not even get the title right … I’ve been calling the book The Purloined Parrot, except that it’s The Perjured Parrot (I loved that story). It’s not unlike that chain message where the first in line says to the second: “Send us reinforcements, we’re going to advance.”

By the time the message gets to the last in the chain, as old-timers will recall, it’s: “Send us three and fourpence, we’re going to a dance.” I’m sure the lesson is not lost.

As far as I can recall, the Holcombe quote went like this:

Perry Mason, addressing the good sergeant in court, asked him what about a number of pieces of evidence which clashed with the conclusions Holcombe had rushed to. We could almost say it presaged the Warren Commission in 1963/4 … not just rushing to judgment but also rushing to form “camps”, always a danger … for in two mutually exclusive camps, refusing to countenance the drivel of the other … lie the seeds of pitiless massacre.

Anyway, Mason asked the good Sgt what he does when he comes to pieces of evidence like that.

“Well,” replied Holcombe more or less,”that don’t cut so much ice … you find bits and pieces all the time which don’t fit the general thrust of the investigation.”

“And would you tell the court, Sgt, in the light of your long investigative experience, what you do when you encounter such inconvenient bits of evidence?”

“You ignore ’em.”

The implications are pesky. If you go to the sidebar, you’ll see Fri [21 till close of play] and a series of comments by IYE (as of 0905 today), here and there referencing MM. Now, if we’re going to play the short attention span web surfer on this, IYE’s comments will drop off the list by tomorrow … have you made a note yet, on that wad of A5 paper you keep for UHC urls of those relevant thoughts? Ditto over at NOWC fifteen minutes ago.

I have the luxury of being lazy in one way … I go into dasboard, click comments and there they all are … until someone steals UHC-HQ … you do know I get about 150 spam a day at HQ, you do know someone has got to one of the ipads and removed screenshot saving.

All of this is a cautionary tale. Why do I not take slabs of MM and quote it here now? Too sensitive, even as sshot … as long as you have a path to accessing that material, that’s the thing here now … pathways. Besides, it’s doubling up when column inches are at a premium. (I posted the Lenin as there was no other way to get it to you.)

Conclusion from Miles, IYE and NOWP? Mine is … they play rough, those people, zero conscience, zero compassion. As Svali put it (remember her?) … dog eat dog. Hence Sun [1] earlier.

Two of CK’s greatest crimes were … firstly, he strayed from the handed-down narrative which had put him in place … ditto with Lincoln, ditto with Kennedy, ditto with my character the PM in my long book Masquerade … secondly, he’d begun to believe his own rhetoric, constantly told him by his sycophantic gatekeepers, day in, day out … and thirdly, he’d decided that his legacy mattered, so ideas such as silver standard came into it, for example, which would have crippled the Fed for a start, the BIS too today.

Have you watched Twilight’s Last Gleaming? Afa I know, only two people have read my long book … among the dross in there (admittedly) are exactly these political developments, before they happen again in the next days.

You see, chaps and chapesses, a “leader” has two choices … stick to the handed down narrative whilst pretending to be a populist statesman (see Farage), making some very steange moves at times, reversals ….. or else he starts getting flights of fancy on behalf of the people, on behalf of Jesus Christ, say … and even his closest Shapiro raises his eyebrows and says nothing.

There are huge implications to this and I for ine am not laying them out now. He that gath eyes and ears etc. Watch out for DAD in Sun 3 and Katie in Sun 4.

Sunday [1]

(0739) Dull out there but the sun threatens to break through. Going to address IYE and other matters from Sun 2 onwards … meanwhile, a series of things posted elsewhere in the past half hour.

If we do not open the eyes, learn from the past, then …

… we are doomed to repeat. I include below some of that learning:

That’s all the text of Lenin that I had, I’ll also put it at UHC-WP but there’s only that fragment, no more.
