24. The collusion – this goes to 22. as well. A vision of a Bobby from my childhood: polished black ankle boots; pressed trousers with a knife edge crease; tunic with silver buttons; white shirt, black tie. The classic Custodian helmet – which made police officers appear 7ft tall. The air of authority and respect for the beat officer round my way was comforting to say the least. His whistle he let me blow, hung from a chain tucked into his top pocket. He had a notebook: each page used admissible in court.
Never seen but always there was his self-defence, a truncheon, kept in a hidden sleeve inside his trouser pocket. That was Officer Dashwood, our local Bobby for ten years. This is an unthinking solution to a problem that should not be.
If the men were not allowed to be in the country, there would be no problem. The solution is to deport them; anything else is like a sticking plaster on a broken leg.

24. As a now retired Police officer of over 20 years service, which followed a full Army career, I despair at what a once impartial profession has become. The son of an ex Police colleague is resigning from my county force, with others apparently following, due to the politically motivated policies of senior officers. It’s more probable than possible that this decision was made because Essex, and now Hampshire, Police appear to be deliberately taunting concerned locals about the small boat invaders. How many other Forces will follow?
As an aside, let’s take the ‘ban the burqua’ suggestion, one step further, and ban all face masks and coverings unless necessary for health reasons. Anyone who feels strongly enough to protest, should have the courage to show their face, unless they are simply members of rent a mob, being bussed around the country to cause trouble. Just a suggestion.

Upon reading your comment here I advise and lightly advise at that, (as you know what is best for yourself)) that you continue to trust in our Father, stay in the Word, stay faithful, be calm.
Many of us have been here for years and it is good to have new blood. However personalities vary and over-rattling our cages can be disconcerting.
It is good to have a different perspective, different info, and new energy. Different is good. Dad may think you are a fruitcake with extra nuts. (We have all been called worse by someone, no doubt.) He just might be right about you. So doesn’t that just make things a bit more interesting for us all? Maybe just a few less nuts…just a few and we might settle into a home of interesting and insightful unherdable 🐈⬛ 🐈 🐈🐈⬛🐈🐈⬛!
I wrote more, just short of a long. I reread it trying, trying to edit mistakes I can’t see until the second I post! As it turned out I cut all but the above cause…I sounded like your mama or something. Who wants that?
