By using comments as jumping off points for further exploration, in a brainstorming rather than confrontational, adversarial, oratorical way, there’s always going to be a downside … by the very nature of our commenters being forthright, there are potential clashes as tavern patrons are dropping in from all different places and angles.
Our whole approach here is “just the facts, ma’am” … civilly.
It’s one reason I can’t go “over-denominational” in Christianity … but at the same time … can’t be “milquetoast” about the core principles … it’s just the trappings, pageantry, chanting and praying to any but the Triune God which I don’t run with … this is an internal matter within the faith.
Outside that, from the Great Science Godists, e.g. the Royal Society, Smithsonian, IPCC, to the straight out atheists … well, that’s your bed you choose to lie in.
MMutR points out a constant observation … the moment you go beyond core statements, e.g. freedom of thought, word and deed … the problems begin, as even if we’re agreed in general, in principle, the very next policy someone thinks that includes is very much NOT included by so many others.
Therefore any progress is stifled or stymied … unherdable cats simply cannot combine for long enough. So it’s far more a case of Alliances within this “parliament” rather than Party positions which need to prevail. It was always tricky in WW2 with the various national armies combining for the combined goal.

In practical terms, on this blog, as long as there are provided sufficient outlets … HQ, NOWP, UHC, Jstack … then you can put your ideas fairly freely and civilly but with two caviats:
a. No Wokery whatever;
b. We’re going to be using the scrolling and click in and out a heck of a lot.
Redacted and Steve tend to expand and cover ground … that’s their way, I’m loathe to influence it. Equally, I’ll repost some, signpost others, comment on some, not on others, according to the material, nothing to do with any ranking order … keep it as freeflowing as poss, though always watching out for trollery, e.g. pushing MMCChange as a “thang” … go somewhere else for that guff.
There’s a principle here too … what you don’t like to see here, someone else does like … you have a clicking finger and scroll wheel, no? And finally … if I see the M or I word “in plain”, I’m going to redact, euphemise, codify … for security reasons. Regular tavern visitors know that full well.

All very quiet here in France, perhaps it was the hot week-end, so I have dug out some news from earlier in the month.

If I am/have been “seen” as “trolling” or such (not sure what that is). Or, I believe “adversarial” or such was mentioned. The only time I was ever in a pub, was in Leeds. my brother and I. Brother was a consultant based in Chiswick for 2+ years. (mericans). An american Werewolf in London was Big in merica. I had seen it, it was yet to arrive in London.
Entering, We were eyed Very closely. Also denied service. Left rather disappointed. As we entered his car, I asked him if that experience didn’t remind him of the movie. He replied it wasn’t there yet.
We drove for about 2 more hours in the cold, almost incessant rain. with electronics by Lucas. Nary a Word said. We stayed the night in a castle nd on to Dover/Calais the next day.
( don’t take that wrong about Lucas). i had an mg midget (to this day I regret selling it). raced an mg b in SCCA for 2+ years. had a Tr 4, before meeting the first real love of my life.
