16. Lord T and the tragedy of a bot

Thursday [11 to 15]

(1038) Threw out some possible films, episodes, radio plays as there were issues with them … largely story arc anomalies, things which would not be like that in RL. Also checked out Katrina of the waves … sigh, I can see why she won in 97, Blair’s big start too … that was not the UK winning, it was the EU/WEF. No wonder.

Today I’ve allocated, à la maison, the job of re-proofing the novella Island (see Other in navbar), plus a certain amount of blogging. A bit light on for films but see how we go. (1101)

15. Ah, that explains much

4. DAD at 1048

a) In a letter addressed to Johanna Rolland this Wednesday, May 14, the Force Ouvrière union—the majority union among agents—is calling for the arming of the municipal police and the Metropolitan Public Transport Unit (UMTC) following the two exceptional and unusual events that took place in Nantes at the end of April…..

b) The U.S. has found Trojan horse communication devices in Chinese-made solar power inverters. They are used to connect solar panels to electricity grids.….

c) A number of anti-White slogans were used in an art installation at the University of Grenoble in France for “Equality Month,” with widespread outrage …..

d) French President Emmanuel Macron shot down calls for a national referendum on the mass migration policies imposed on France…..

3. Redacted and IYE

The exchange over Monkeywerx was not something I felt I needed to enter … my mode on it is Learner, not even Digger. Legit question, put bluntly, answer comprehensive, seemed to me. That’s precisely what this site is trying to do, exhaustively, slowly. I’ve always liked this cartoon:

2. One of Steve’s 1047s today has this

A few decades later, Noam Chomsky and Edward S. Herman analysed how corporate media organisations were using a “propaganda model of communication” to further the agendas of elite groups. ‘Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media’argued that the US media were fulfilling “a system-supportive propaganda function, by reliance on market forces, internalised assumptions, and self-censorship, and without significant overt coercion.”

[…]

Based on a citizens’ panel convened by the CCC, chief executive Emma Pinchbeck claimed the recommendations had the broad support of the public: “The citizens’ panel were often ahead of even our advice on some of the things they were willing to consider. They are interested and want to do their bit. The public really are proud of the UK’s progress on climate action – we can’t see any evidence that the public wants us to slow down.”

I’m covering this in more detail at OoL in a few minutes (0506):

Last evening, our Toodles sent this:

1. Readers recollections file

The whole idea is not so much political writings, although they’ll appear now and then when a reader’s gone to a great deal of trouble. It’s not even reports of how the garden’s looking … it’s more recollections of events in personal pasts.

Now, not having collated these along the way but with this still being year one of HQ, if I go back ten comments pages at a time … that will enable the gathering of at least some of these recollections … slowly.
