There was an item on one of Hegseth’s staff escorted out of the Pentagon and here’s the first dilemma. Source? BNO. Who are they? First stop was their site, which was quite opaque, no information readily available but Wiki does:

Now, if you’ve genuinely looked through both Wiki entries, plus the X BNO link, plus you’ve gone to References on van Poppel, you’d have seen MSNBC, CNN, BBC and Tech Crunch … all left wing legacy.

Plus you’ll have noticed his business model … obviously sensational “scoops”. An important factor with Wiki is that, far from ignoring it … go to it for “tone”. I’ve access to various search engines outside the syndicated but they’re not actually necessary, nor wise, not knowing the slant and funders. Wiki we do.

For me, the lack of critical tone against van P was significant … either funded or else digger/scooper of the muckraking type. They might have a scoop, they might not … just how many bad players are there still in the Pentagon, dissembling away?

Whole point of this exercise now is that unless you do your homework first, prepared to distrust anyone at face value, then your statements are iffy at best. If you say that that’s my job and yours to be a reader of a dozen outlets, wanting quick scoops with no critical effort in digging, then I’d say you’ve not learnt a lot. Critical faculties are vital, always remembering that 80%-20% always applies.
