The Fourth Crusade

With great respect, Dearieme’s not wrong on all points, not right on all. DM points out the barbarity of the “European” tribes in Roman times, up to the mythical “Islamic” Golden Age, which never existed … it was Persian and other sampling the horde leaders did … there was a Golden Age all right … just not Islamic … they were just as much savages as the Hun, the Frank, any other bunch of the time period … even the heathen Romans, savages.

So the Crusades were always going to be largely by CINO chancers and looters, interspersed with the naive, e.g. the Children’s Crusade. Chap below here writes of “to secure funds” … you whaaa? It was an utter pogrom, sparing no one … about as Christian as satan himself.
