6. Toodles, Redacted and the unsung patrons
Toodles herself is too modest to say but she plays quite a role at Unherdables, she nourishes obscurity one could say … she’s a personal friend, she proofreads everything after the event and spots anomalies, she suggests and notes … she has a sense of the wholeness of our conglomeration … plus I know she is valued by most of our patrons here.
This, plus Redacted’s kind comments about me are here:
… and that post is looking better and better imho. For a start, it preserves more safely … HQ is more lively, more frenetic, news item summary after news item summary after news item summary … yes … but remember that warning in May about HQ easily going down suddenly?
I know it seems a cheek on my part to move Toodles’s and Redacted’s longs to L001 at UHCWP but you see, I wished to up their chances of preservation, given those lost comments at HQ.
But what of shorts and mediums, e.g. Andy’s I’ve just transferred? Steve has some I’d like to too, e.g. on military issues, Dorset etc. Well, there’s a place for those at Reader recollections:
It just feels safer there at UHCWP plus NOWP. Not knocking HQ but it’s a rollercoaster ride, plus it’s not the place for long dissertations and diatribes.
Where are IYE, Microdave, Torquaymada, Woodsy 42, Isilme? Around and about. IYE’s archive is buried in our navbar above.

“An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered; an adventure is an inconvenience rightly considered.”
Yesterday, starting with IYE at 0647, and finishing just after 2020 with Redacted, was actually an exercise in administration, rightly considered. We think of bureaucrats as mindless, pitiless automatons within an ideology but I’ve seen examples, within the very monoliths we’re calling ou,t of “good” bureaucracy … orderly storage for example such that an authorised person can enter and access … manually.
And it’s the manual bit which is the key. IYE has a store of files only he can access … better I can’t so that there is never a question raised such as yesterday’s at 0647 … “need to know” in other words.
Similarly, we have files too, dotted around in known places … known to those with memories and/or orderly habits. And spread onto different devices, not all kept at the same venue.
Quiz question … do you recall the url of that HQ page I set up for “longs” yesterday, linked in the sidebar? Now deleted, that link, from the sidebar? But the page itself was never deleted. Pity if you cannot recall or you did not store because at the end of that link is a second link, called Mike Davis on X. And if you click on that, it takes you to his X account.
But it also takes you to a raw text store LPHQ001, where you’d find Mike’s post on the raid on Mar-a-Lago and it’s implications.
Part two of that is here:
“Maybe there is a reason Bill Barr consistently knifed Trump after the Mar-a-Lago raid, pretending Trump committed espionage by having his (damning Crossfire Hurricane) presidential records the Presidential Records Act allowed Trump to have? Bill Barr should explain himself. And
@CIADirector John Ratcliffe, who served as Trump’s DNI at the end of the first administration, was terrific. He finished the job
@Kash_Patel started in declassifying and releasing Crossfire Hurricane.
Trump was surrounded by numerous traitors. The problem is that he is still surrounded by many of them who are hiding & pretending much better now.
@LauraLoomer is seemingly the only one doing a decent job exposing them. Glory Bee commented You left out that Trump had to deal with the disaster who was his first AG, Jeff Sessions, who recused himself as AG then resigned. That, along with Chris Wray, set him back significantly.”
……
News through that Toodles has also dropped a “long”, so must go have a look.
All right … she has dropped three in. One is connected to this old post:
… so is best left in situ, methinks. There’s a second at HQ which can just sit where it is as well.
But I’m going to transfer Toods’s third in the same way I transferred Redacted’s longs last evening as it’s not about IYE per se but a long reflection on another matter … exactly the type of long which fits into the UHCWP category..
Thus you’ll find, by glancing at our sidebar here for now … two of Toodles’s new comments at the link panel above, inc. heartfelt feelings for IYE’s little doggy …
… plus her third comment, a long, over at UHCWP, here:
Bottom line is that nothing is lost. Method was to copy Toods’s long, put it in L001 at UHCWP, save, double check it’s there, take the url and come back to HQ, paste the url in the already selected comment panel, save. That’s all it was.
……
“Comments open” facility in Settings, in the guts of HQ … changing 6 days to 5 days and there’s reason for this … namely that I can keep a weather eye open for any other removal of comments such as that noticed by IYE yesterday, and can act sooner.
It all sounds more complicated in the explaining than it is in Real Time … it’s been tested now, this morning, it works, with one very nice surprise … WP itself have every comment here as a url. Both those panels above are there because I took the specific comment url and pasted as a panel.
Sadly, deleted comments don’t have that anymore, i.e. if an external miscreant deleted them … they are, sadly, gone from the hard disk. That miscreant knew that and I therefore know it too.
This is precisely why I use a combination of manual removal of spam, plus a blacklist facility, rather than anti-spam programme. I trust neither McAfee nor Avast for example … I have the spam programme right there if needed, I can invoke it at any time, plus WP itself have universal spam settings.
……
It does come down, in the end, to systems => bona fides => trust. That’s especially so with the real world analogy of Obama-Trump-Epstein, say, plus every pundit purporting to be a “good” person. IYE mentioned yesterday that someone who would remove two comments about a little doggy is a *&£#£&* type of nasty person (if it was a person).
My comment is yes, quite agree … but we know such people are psycho, conscienceless … we’ve seen them in operation. And don’t forget the “banality of evil” … bureaucracy in particular. It takes humans to gum that up, to make it a real pig’s breakfast.

23. Housekeeping … slight blog revamp
To put it mildly, I have not been happy with today’s events and part of that is blog-organisational … going to have to be more insistent with non-regulars, plus do some revamping work myself.
I see HQ here as a place for reasonably short comments or summaries … that’s how I also run my own data presentation to you. To give you an idea of the comment length we wish to get … look at Steve’s in today’s comments threads, plus my medium length comment … that’s what HQ is about … around that sort of length or shorter, give or take.
To put it another way, HQ is essentially a news headlines site, certainly not for disputes between readers. It’s our flagship.
Long dissertation types of articles aren’t really for HQ … they’re welcome to our conglomeration, make no mistake, esp. with links or media … but not here at HQ … they need to be over at UHCWP, which now runs a more NOWP format (see sidebar over there).
Now, Redacted was not to know this as I’d not left it anywhere openly stated but have now. So let’s say a less regular commenter drops a dissertation or sermon … drop it at UHCWP please. If by mistake it’s dropped here, I’ll need to transfer the comment to UHCWP, then signpost from here where precisely it can be found. In other words, making extra work for me.
I’m hoping this principle will not turn into a clash of wills as it’s for our readers overall.
Now, Steve and DAD and anyone really, as we’ve been doing … I’m loathe for NOWP to change as it’s sound, regular and readers know exactly where to go for the long, linked version of those drops … I’ll still number as I’ve been doing but that’s it … as has been the case for quite some time. Remember that media expands at NOWP in many cases … but not all that often at the other WP sites … and not at all at Jstack … that’s just a quirk of WP and Jstack I’m afraid.
My attempt to put a rants/longs link here in the sidebar has been, today, an ignominious failure, so I’m removing the “longs” link from the sidebar here now, forthwith.
What all this means
*If you have a short to medium, there are three sites within UHC-NO you can leave it but your choice will depend on whether you want expanding media or links.
*If you have a long, then HQ is not available … I shall move it to the latest UHCHQ longs page in your name for now. Sorry but I need to, to prevent flooding or infighting at HQ. In the evening, I go beddy-byes around now (2020 Brit time), dog tired, needing to be sure HQ is safe enough to get through the night without some sort of war.
Overnight
You still have that choice of three sites to drop a short/medium at but a long will end up at UHCHQ first thing in the morning. Oh and don’t forget Jstack … that’s also available for commenting at if you wish.
Removal of your comments
The ONLY situation where I’ll remove a comment at HQ is if it’s long and discursive and not dropped by one of our longtimers or it’s a declaration of war … as written about above … and it can be found at UHCWP.
I would NEVER summarily remove comments by longtimers … they should know that by now, esp. if it’s good for the site. So if your comment disappears, with no word from me … then something has been going on without my knowledge, some miscreant’s got in and done that.
To help prevent that happening in future, comments are closed after 6 days, universally. This is to stop someone going in after 6 days and causing mayhem. If it still happens, then someone is hacking the site and that will involve my techie mate’s help to identify and reverse hack the bstd.

20. What constitutes misconduct?
Seems easy enough to determine with women and children but trickier with us:
I’ve mentioned it before but there I was with epoxy caused skin rashes, there was a lady doctor, plus a younger nurse, both of our ethnic stock. Let’s just say it was the full check up all over. Out of order? Not in my eyes. What if it had been reversed? Undoubtedly misconduct on my part, it would have been.
That’s just the way it rolls in real life.

16. Two songs about our current atmospherics around here
From the opening narration of dead matriarch Phoebe Martin giving the back story of her deranged family, “The Unknown” is several notches above the usual programmer.
Part of the “I Love a Mystery” series done briefly at Columbia in the mid 40’s, this one is the best, although the first one is pretty neat, too. However, for the most part, this one is unrelated to the first two. They had a bit of a comic overtone, while this one has a gothic feel to it, something like “Rebecca”. If not as well known or as polished as that film, it is equally as spooky.
The opening segment dramatizes the accidental death of the family patriarch which ultimately leads to the family’s desolation into being reduced to being totally reclusive from once the cream of society. When a young girl named Nina (Jeff Donnell) arrives after the death of Grandmother Martin, she quickly discovers her mentally disturbed mother (Karen Morley) who was driven to insanity by being forced to give up her husband, Nina’s father.
Soon, it’s apparent that someone is trying to get Nina out of the way and her attorneys must help her find out who the culprit is before it’s too late. This is where a lot of ingenious surprises come in, and there are lots of them.

Awoke from a second sleep and saw this:
Why two screenshots instead of one? Because the details in the left column include email and IP.
Right … I’ve been through and those two comments are certainly not there, which suggests it was targetted. So, let’s look at possible culprits. It does look like someone who likes mischief and is trying to drive a wedge between us all while all seemed calm and full speed ahead. Plus, has anything unusual happened since yesterday? Let’s start with that latter point.
Anything unusual?
Yes, as Julia could confirm. Ggl sent a letter to my main email about the OoL email not having been used for eight months. My question is … why eight months? Who would have gone into it eight months ago, when it was attached to the old, now removed (by ggl) OoL site (blgr)? When it was around since 2013?
Short answer is ggl itself, blgr, spammers or hackers. Yesterday, I recovered that email and Julia and I spoke of it. I can’t see it being Julia but it might be a hacker wanting to get at her or at me for something at OoL, or even our connection on X.
Also, I deleted some DM accounts yesterday, inc. tech people attached to Nole.
Lil ole me
Well, we’re down to bona fides or history, also psychology … why on earth would I choose IYE and Toodles? Esp. as I’m delighted Toods is in action and that was a nice exchange. Same with DAD, Andy or Steve.
Yes, obviously I could delete but when have I ever done that without making a song and dance about it? And why Toods and IYE, two key people at this site? On the other hand, what if someone were wanting to cause a rift there?
Toods or IYE themselves
… or someone technically close to or attached to either of them … and remember that both are in countries other than in the UK.
Quite a possibility but again … look at history … why has the sort of thing not happened before?
The Backend Man
This is the engineer who set up this site, HQ … some sort of fun or mischief? Quite possible, has the temperament … but again … why? We’re both pleased how HQ is operating.
Something within the backend itself, within our set up? Possible … tech glitches are always possible, esp. with hackers on himself trying to get at him with attacks.
The spam system here
Far from allaying IYE’s concern, this would add to it. Already not happy with the comments system, there are all sorts of factors affecting both his and her commenting, esp. within his and her own country.
There is WP itself too
… possibly unhappy I have not gone premium.
Plus, the way it works is that I’m hit every hour with up to twenty spam. I click individual comments, bulk label them spam and they go. But I have seen glitches where there were, say ten spam, then maybe three good comments, then maybe another five spam … and so on. Just why it would be Toods and IYE I can see is possible by sod’s law but I’m fairly careful what I click, which is one reason I do not blog mid to late evening … too tired and that gets dangerous.
The answer there is again attitude and history … has it been an issue before? And the reply is … before what? Yes indeed. Before what? What changed?
Plus one more thing … with the old N.O., some tech toerag was going through old posts for months, note that, and removing them. It did not stop us, so they stole the whole blog last July, around about now.
Now look again at the second screenshot above here, over to the right … 6:47 a.m. is one thing … but look also at the Tuesday [6 to 10]. Also, the question to me by Redacted was under a Wednesday post. Think on that one … old posts, now off the front page. 🤔
EE, WP, Apple, ggl, other providers?
Certainly it could … but why now? And why specifically Toods and IYE? The ipads are both playing up, that’s for sure, I’m having to constantly refresh. Plus, around 7 a.m., our time, is peak time, then late afternoon.
Redacted himself
Who. Bleedin’. Knows. Seriously. I’ll explore this, and shall report back if anything crops up.
Jewish or Jihadi reasons?
Possible. But why Toods and IYE? Just general mischief making? Who. Bleedin’. Knows.
Right, need to get going with Steve’s drops last evening.
My last thoughts on’t?
Those comments have certainly disappeared, I can’t find them anywhere … my feeling is it’s one of two reasons … one is sod’s law glitch, there are plenty of those. The other is that someone targetted HQ, looking for max mayhem, max fallout between contributors. So the question is … who would have a vested interest in that?
(0403) Redacted has asked me a question, so I’m going to answer it below but it also applies, that answer, in general. (0552)
3. In answer to a fair question
Redacted asks Toodles and I do we consider him a troll? I do vaguely recall recently using the word “troll” but it was not in connection with him, nor with any of our chaps and chapesses. However, it’s certainly a bit mongrel, us (plural) … someone once asked me to call off the “rottweilers”, which was a very left liberal mindset … I have zero influence over our lot, inc. Redacted. Unherdable Cats we are.
Every single reader who sticks it out here, unblocked, is a bit of a dangerous character in him/herself, is resourceful … in short, is a curmudgeon to a point, so niceties are what I do here in a Teddy R manner. “Keeping the peace” does not describe it, as I have very little influence … more it’s trying to keep this show on the road afap, dealing with this or that. That’s about it.
I’m loathe to enter disputes but again … no you’re not a troll … sometimes you can flood the comments thread (my problem mainly) but so can any here … observe Steve, DAD, IYE now and then. Talk about disparate tavern of patrons though … I hesitate to say “dirty dozen”, so let’s just say there are very few beg pardons.
The link in the sidebar called “Your Longer Pieces” is still useful though, in case you have some highly sensitive links … it gives a measure of protection, not being strictly front page … my job then is to signpost. Also, in a while, I’m going to shift that link to just below the “Succinct Words of Wisdom”.
Lastly, I have to come back to that Reagan comment, over and over:
2. Intriguing Xer I’ve seen around on X
Goes by the moniker Rus Garbage Human@RusGarbageHuman and his blurb goes: “Culturally English, Ethnically Russian. You cannot coexist with people who want you dead and your children sent to re-education camps. NEVER give up your guns.”
Given my own years spent in Russia, plus the way the ptb vilify anything and anyone Russian here, in the EU and in the US, plus being metaphysically Christian myself, I’m used to being vilified because I (sort of) do go looking for danger but not foolhardiness.
The vilified Baden-Powell (only of late have I been told why) nevertheless said some wise things and one was that “a good bushman never tries to rough it”. That is, he sees his situation at that moment, e.g. on bivouac on the side of a hill near, but not quite on the ridge, as what it is, he adapts to it and makes it as comfortable as humanly possible.
As a soldier, I was strategically bad in that my fellow squaddie and I used to spend half an hour of our allotted sleep gathering bracken to put under our ponchos, to act as palliases. Which got us into trouble with the sarge next morn, rested, as the whole idea of bivouac was to leave the surrounds as undisturbed as possible.
As I pointed out … we were on exercise, not for real, so we’d prefer to be in trouble and do the fatigues later back in camp, but gain valuable sleep for now … a habit not broken to this very day. Robert Baden-Powell’s point had been just that … create order out of chaos wherever you find yourself, create comfort out of hardship, be eternally aware, protect your fellow soldier or traveller, plus the Khalil Gibran maxim of “if possible, be at peace with the other person” … but I’d add the Teddy Roosevelt “speak softly but carry a big stick”. Also learn to blend into the background when required.
This Russian guy on X is quite adept … I’m still observing for now … what I like is his uncompromising way of telling it as it is … a bit like Redacted’s manner in his question … but Russkies are survivors in harsh conditions, so as far as I’m concerned, he’s welcome … I’ll drop something on him later in Russian. This is one of his tweets:
“Why was a white girl in the car with three blacks?” That was his comment on the news headline: “Drunk driver was speeding at 94mph before crash that killed four Essex university students – inquest”.
I’m going to reply to him: “Привет! Почему она вообще была с ними в машине? Почему в парке в пять утра нашли ещё одну мёртвую девочку? Интересная демографическая группа. Девочки никогда, никогда не учатся, особенно девушки из Эссекса и леволибералы, так почему же мы вообще о них заботимся? Древний вопрос, нет, уходящий корнями в глубокую древность?”
