23. Again – two things on this Chagos debacle. We have an as yet unbroken 60 year-old treaty with the United States over the use of part of it. The second is in the same decade we paid Mauritius £3 million outright for the Chagos Islands – receipt is with H.M. Treasury. So, we own it and let the US use the part of it called Diego Garcia. Both Tories and Labour have gone out of their way to get rid of an extremely important asset and for no good reason. Conspiracy anyone?
