  1. The Co-op was still using horse and cart for milk deliveries in Edinburgh in the early sixties.

    ……

    JH: I recall.

    • We had horse and cart milk deliveries in the mid 70s in Stockport. Dunno when they stopped as we moved.

  2. By the 70’s, the Co-op was using lots of Morris Minor vans. But – rather bizarrely – they were too mean to use antifreeze in icy weather, preferring to have the workshops drain the (plain water) coolant every night, and refill them the next morning!

My late mother remembered the milkman using a horse & cart. A side benefit was that the horse knew the route, and would walk to the next house while the milkman was delivering. If we still had any (significant) regular daily deliveries these days, I suppose someone would develop a “Self Driving” EV to do the same job, not knowing there was a simpler and better alternative nearly a century ago…

    ……

JH: Good point about geegees knowing the route.

  3. Mandami’s NY will not become a cautionary tale because as you point out it is a repeat of a previous dickheads work enabled by idiots.

Those idiots still vote and they have no recollection of anything beyond their last perceived slight and lamestream media windup.

It is human nature and most of us are simply stupid.
