When regime change occurred in Iraq we weren’t entirely convinced of the WMD excuse. We were pretty sure of the reasons given for regime change in Libya. Although it increased sub Saharan migration when Gaddafi lost control of his southern border. Regime change in Syria used a few excuses to get our nod of approval, chemical weapons and close ties to Russia were but two. Venezuela, drugs and close ties to Russia. Iran, nuclear weapons. Russia, the mighty bear, provoked into retaliatory defence projected as expansionism. Common denominator, black gold. Whatever excuses are used I remain sceptical when a “demon dictator” is being targeted.
