Tuesday [16 till close of play]

(1604) Near evening.

23. Had a message through

Things seem unchanged about OandP’s good lady, no message there … there was a message from Amfortas’s son. No detail but I’m gathering from it that he may be in a better place now. I’ll report when I can. IYE look after yourself. All of you too.

22. Ta, gentlemen, for the additional incoming

Just skimmed Novgorod and Silver, need to click through one of Steve’s. Almost crashing, night night.

The only hope for the west now

… is through Zoomer thinkers finally getting Zoomer sheeple to see, using the available tech of the day.

Melissa Kristin is 37, born 1988, just a tad earlier tham mid Millennial. The acting in the clip is appalling, she’s trying to be evenhanded, calling Millennials “mouth running off” and Zoomers “silent” … the clip is about that. Actually, the Zoomer has zero time for the Millennial … the Kardashian, La La Land, Me Me Me Wokerati generation of Millennialism … and the obvious question is … who allowed Millennials to get like that?

Zoomers see a society collapsing around them … some are finally waking up.

The monastery, the convent and the cold

The narration a few seconds in sounded like an upper primary or junior secondary lesson but became bearable, plus there was no music drowning it out, another positive. Not a bad topic, given that if we find ourselves soon enough in barracks or cells … how would we fare? I’m thinking we’re a tad soft these days, though body memory might return.

And once again, as is my wont, I’m coming back to generations. Given that one of our patron droppers here is coming up to the big nine oh next year, he is clearly from late Depression times, through the war and ration books, through to the supposed nirvana after that.

I’m from that nirvana but also saw the last of the austerity, then good times, yes, then the Gen X “lost-chn” gen after that. Also, in Russia, I was at the tail end of Soviet austerity, saw the “good times” roll in, the chn become obese.

Tuesday [6 to 10]

7. This needs a full post on why I’m glad to be out of teaching

… but you know what I’d write. Question is if that stance washes in 25/26 or whether we need to be more proactive … and how?

4. DAD at 1247

It’s the same the whole world over. isn’t it a bleeding shame…….

a) French politicians were divided today over how to pay tribute to the late Brigitte Bardot, who despite her screen legend courted controversy and convictions in later life with her far-right views.

b) The left-wing Irish government has vowed to push for the European Union to prohibit the use of anonymous social media accounts….

c) Iranian traders and shopkeepers staged a second day of protests Monday after the country’s currency plummeted to a new record low against the US dollar.

d) At least 15 federal inmates in Canada have died by state-sanctioned suicide, classified as euthanasia, since 2018, according to newly released government records….

e) “Brussels doesn’t believe its policies have failed: it believes you are the problem”. “There is no genuine desire for public debate….

3. This one needs bringing to account, as with Fauci

2. Steve at 1247

JH: I have to keep asking with Steve as I think he misses the housekeeping posts. So, again, it would help immensely if a line did not open with a single talking mark as it skews the compose page and makes it impossible to copy and paste a whole line.

It’s partly a WP thing but also an ipad thing, plus Apple have these things sticking out, e.g. opaque arrows, which cover text. With double talking marks … ” … it does not happen. Single though gums things up.
