Friday [11 till close of play]

(1511) Afternoon all. Better to run this as the final of the day … various RL commitments, chores … shall post when I can through to evening.

18. War Room

Why is everything in the U.K. inverted right now?

Examples:

1 – repeatedly and relentlessly going after those that do whilst other countries reward hard work

2- Veterans kicked out into streets and young males who have broken borders housed and fed instead

3- Councillor shouting to violently attack a certain group of people with knives to a huge agitated crowd using a microphone not found guilty , but a distressed emotional lone mum lashes out online in desperation to babies being brutally murdered and deleted it quickly. Guilty and jailed.

4- Some woke privileged affluent people in Cotswolds cheering a pub refusing to serve the much loved and charming VP of America who loves the uk , whilst ignoring the huge number of violent crimes committed by illegal migrants and cheering for their rights on a daily basis

5- Birmingham council ripping down U.K. flags before VJ Day but replacing with Pakistan and India flags

Etc etc example after example.

Why is everything at the moment against decent Brits and in general , the mentality and people who built Britain and the people who want the best for Britain but seemingly often pro those who hate Britain and act in ways that harm Britain

Where policies that damage and weaken Britain are protected and promoted whilst things that would help are scorned

When did we become one of the only countries in the world who hates itself How did such a once proud and upstanding patriotic intelligent leading nation as the U.K. arrive in such a Topsy turvy self flagellating almost suicidal position.

And how can we rectify this deranged mentality and get back to being a cohesive country that’s proud and stands up for what’s right and the things that benefit Britain ?

15. It goes on and on and on and on

Housekeeping – back from the border lands. Great few days, perfect weather. The dogs were amazing, though highly trained for the gun they knew with me it was definitely recreational. Out we went, three times a day, playing hide and seek with tiny pieces of chicken and a strange game of football, or rather muzzle ball, with four mad for it working cockers and a low net. The sprain was nasty, moderate to severe he was told.

By the time I was due to leave and with his wife returned he showed us his heavily discoloured foot. I know the drill: rest, ice, compression and elevation (R.I.C.E) – which I became familiar with after walking over moon grass with a massive rucksack on my back. Occupational hazard in the forces.

Anyway, normal service will resume tomorrow 🙂 For the time being though these two are worth a read, the first one about a town not 5 miles from where I live:

11. The Jones verdict of not guilty

… if that’s justice, I’m a banana. I’ll find something from X but it’s an absolute disgrace … this is the justice system quite o’erthrown.

A quick look at three Maigret series

From a review of one of the Gambon episodes:

“Of course the Gambon series looks better, they had a vastly better budget, and the technical advances greatly helped with the picture quality. That series had shows that ran for longer (90 mins or 2 hours, from fading memory) so the stories could be developed in a better way, but the Davies version was actually shot in Paris (for the externals) so has that extra benefit.

The criticism about “claustrophobic sets” is also strange, the Gambon & Atkinson series both had some small sets, reflecting the stories as Simenon wrote them (a small room is a small room, a small bar is a small bar!). Their later date of production meant they looked rather better, having had more time and money spent! NB The Gambon series was 2 runs of 6 shows, and I think Atkinson stopped after just 3 (a relief for those fans pained at his lack of resemblance to the written Maigret). I look forward to more of the Davies reruns!

Criticism of Helen Shingler (Davies) is especially daft, as she plays Madame Maigret just as directed, and what a wife would have been back then, especially of a leading policeman. The review by Richard Hull is far more accurate about the Simenon books, and how the atmosphere and detection methods are layered, and pretty hard to replicate on screen – especially in these original one hour shows.”

That, to me, was a fair review … this is the ggl AI review:

“Gambon’s portrayal of Maigret in the 1992-1993 series received mixed reviews. While some praised his acting ability and physical presence as convincing, others criticized the shorter episode length, which they felt didn’t allow for sufficient character development and atmosphere. Some found the supporting cast and overall atmosphere to be too “British” and less faithful to the original French tone of Simenon’s novels.”

The “too British” thing … possibly referring to Geoffrey Hutchings as Lucas … to my mind it was great, an excellent actor. Gambon was the part, plus the quality of the females is always so very important. In The Nightclub Dancer, Minnie Driver was superb, while The Maid was superbly played by Susie Lindeman in that episode … in fact, she absolutely makes that episode, alo g with Gambon … the chemistry is electric.

I’ve seen many Cremer episodes, esp. with subtitles … the Flemish family are better there, the settings are of course authentic but the Maid methought was the weakest. The females are crucial in a film, esp. for us males.

Certain episodes in all series are classics … these were iconic (dates were for the Gambon version):

I would add the Gambon version of The Mad Woman … she was so humanely played by Marjorie Sommerville, though the episode itself was so-so.

This was another classic with Gambon and Minnie Driver:

Below is the Davies version of that episode:

7. Housekeeping

Request of readers here … when I post an item such as Wednesday’s:

… what you should be getting is at least this visual … but hopefully, should you click on the video … it plays. Being always inside the HQ-X nexus, I don’t always get to see what you see, even when signed out. Feedback please?

6. Falklands Day

Friday [1 to 5]

(0718) Very, very late up this morning … good for the ole bod, bad for the blog. Housekeeping will be the opening item, referring to our patrons en vacances. (0905)

5. The natural tendency towards cynical virtue signalling

… in order to make ourselves feel good, esp. in an egregious, Wokeleft way.

Such as sending the sworn enemies of Britain … who have already established their hatred of us … sending them Valentines cards via 5 year olds, inviting them to come and rape, torture and slaughter said children … these are the Yorkshire schools doing it currently:

4. This one’s most certainly a worry for Britain

… via the backdoor sewer of The English Channel. One can have all the sympathy in the world for the world’s unfortunates but the thing one must never do is turn the natural tendency towards charity into cynical virtue signalling to feel good in our Wokeleft selves.

3. Before getting down to the main biz today

… a word to the boys about “symping” or “simping”. For a start, there was that ludicrous thing plod did in getting the two prettiest young ladies they could find, putting them in stab vests and sending them jogging, awaiting the wolf whistles … idea being that the male officers, presumably, would descend and arrest.

Those two lasses were sweetlooking to be sure but being dressed neck to toe in jogging attire … were hardly THOTs parading themselves, “disporting” themselves. To my mind, catcalling is weak … hiding among mates for security whilst shouting barbs their wives and gfs would give them the rounds of the kitchen over.

What would I have done? Maybe nothing or maybe started jogging a short distance from, yet beside her, played it by ear. There are two things here … being non-threatening, yet also in charge of oneself … and the other being non-simpy. The ex-gf told me she’d been come onto by some guy (it usually happened every 3.8 seconds) whose opening line was: “I know you could never look at me, never love me …”

Stop right there … under her power from the get-go? Man, you need lessons from these online relationship “experts”.

Which brings me to this gal:

Right … profile pic entices all right, seems a star on net or TV … ah, “good food gal” is a giveaway … should I? Think not just now and yet … that’s a pretty good question she asks, one which is always going to bring in sigma and alpha males … plus, unfortunately, all the women haters, male and female as well. This lady was holding out an olive branch there … tread carefully.

Interested, me? Obviously but also one must mind one’s situation and never be a “player”, even moreso towards one’s dotage … the rule of 7 applies, though I say 14 is more sane. That is … half your age, plus 14 for a viable chance. Plus does one wish to be always dragged around by young women any more … eternal travel, eternal home renovations, diminishing intim, no rest whatsoever, early grave?

On the other hand, one must not be a vacuous, narcissistic zero … one must give to get. Plus, what should a Christian male be doing? All good questions perhaps.

My stepfather was a high up in some outfit called Legacy and he kindly offered to do the weekly rounds of the war widows … how noble of him. My mother knew the score, she was always one who, despite her superlative qualities as a walking tornado, one did need a brief break from now and then … SF had his garage with its woodturning lathe. What’s more, he knew I knew and everyone was happy enough, inc. the war widows.

Just thinking though … just as a lady must never be a THOT nor slapper, nor a gauche Labour front bencher type … so a man has to watch the simpy, creepy, satyr-like, narcissistic traps … constantly.

2. DAD at 1131

a) “Let’s block everything” on September 10: what do we know about this movement that calls for paralysing France?

b) According to Le Canard, the CRS (riot police) tasked with protecting the home of Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly, in Le Vésinet (78), were tasked with feeding her chickens during her vacation.

c) Four men were found dead in the Seine River in Choisy-le-Roi (Val-de-Marne) this Wednesday. The causes of their deaths remain to be determined.

d) Jenrick’s 48 Hours in France. (Video over at 1131)

……

JH: I’m loathe to uglify the smooth DAD-flow over at 1131 by interrupting with this explanation … not sure whether to let 1131 be the current DAD collection en vacances or make an 1132 … just seeing how this pans out. 🍿🍿🍿

1. Housekeeping

MMutR said the other day … everyday is a holiday for you now, isn’t it? To a point … within each day is fairly regimented, given that there are different cunning plans for early or late start. It’s usually intense for the first four hours, then another similar time early evening.

Across the week, I’ve started using Sunday for more rest, just to stay afloat … you have your needs too. Across the year, well this is the vacation time now. If July 26 (N.O. Day) is right in the silly season, the period two weeks before September is really “last chance hotel” so to speak … all those things we planned to take care of in the summer.

At nourishing unherdables, the collective term for this complex of blogs, plus X, IYE is en vacances, Steve we know is doing doggies, DAD has family time but has surprised this morning with a drop at 1131 (coming up), AKH is en vacances (or was), MMutR I’m up with, the ladies too … Andy is about, I presume at bowls, Dearieme is about, Penseivat, Torquaymada, Microdave, Woodsy are about, plus occasional chaps. I see Sackerson and JD are about, Guido over at his place, Leggy and Longrider too.

If I left you out, then once the worsening memory kicks in again I’ll add to this post item … only half an apology as we all know about memory and health at our time of life. Please try to keep up exercise and liquid. Get that sleep and cease to worry about it.

The Christians present know it makes life far easier, plus harder in certain worldly ways.
