a) France. A wave of violence has swept the country in recent weeks….

b) Poland. Marches under the slogan ‘Stop Immigration’ took place across Poland on Saturday, July 19th, including in Bialystok, Krakow, Poznan, Warsaw, and Wroclaw.

c) Ukraine. Mass protests against Zelensky’s regime have begun in Kiev.

d) According to France 3 Provence-Alpes, it was international cocaine trafficking that indirectly uncovered a sprawling corruption scandal within Semivim, the Martigues social housing agency.

Readers will notice, sooner or later, that the UHCWP sidebar has been revamped again, for ease of admin (Mr. Bureaucracy Jimbo).

Shorts

The cunning plan with the shorts is as in the blurb in 1 to 5 over there:

Further cunning fwd thinking is to maybe open those to comments (they’re currently closed). Shall see.

Longs

HQ is really not for long, discursive rambles or even rants … it’s possibly not a safe place for long personal stories … which incidentally are most welcome … HQ is more for hard hit (meaning we get hit, often) polit-items of the moment, interspersed with various mini features, plus films and music of course.

It’s a distribution centre in a way, of links, signposting, it’s a working site pointing outwards to things going on. It’s also the one where things can (rarely, hopefully) be lost … there’s a touch of the ephemeral to it, though it does pack some power. It deals in short pieces, not discursive.
