2. Housekeeping

Not a completely well cat just now chez Higham Mansions … gastric but may have been my doing … takes days to know, might be heart/circulation … it’s a job to get this posted, which is the same for our regular chaps too … JH comments below and within yours is but one issue … I find the concentration with eyes difficult in WP comments format, which also affects correspondence.

I do assure you it’s not lack of interest … have to admire AKH who answers each person but that’s Blgr’s good comments format … this WP font is too small in comments and can’t be altered, I’ve tried … might be a function of this old theme.

Why not change themes? There’s nothing better on offer, giving all the required functionality. So a comment by me might look something like this:

*Toodles … yes, it was generally well received, the Army anniversary, except by the bad players.

*Dearieme … I think there was guitar, thought I heard it near the frenetic end.

*Redacted … where do I start? Thx for the kind words … Revelation? Certainly did … 16:16 and that chapter.

*Tony … it was a good plane.

*Steve, thx for those links at HQ plus NOWP, plus usual massive drops.

*AKH … they were quite jaunty, methought.

*Microdave … Constitutional Republic, not democracy, yes … but he won college plus popular vote.

a) This is how to get a Knighthood. Sadiq Khan constantly dodges questions about grooming gangs in London.

b) Macron rebuffed. The National Commission for Heritage and Architecture (CNPA), opposed to the contemporary stained-glass window project…

c) Antisemitic attacks rise [in France] after Macron’s anti-Israel rhetoric.

d) Canada is lost. A male school bus driver in Ontario, Canada, was confronted by parents after wearing a pink “school girl” outfit…

Sunday [16 till close of play]

(1559) Not far from evening. Have to say again, I do read MD, Steve, PSVT, IYE, AKH, Redacted, y’all … health iffy, back in harness soon.

16. Take a letter, Maria

Sun Mat

“”She,” adapted from H. Rider Haggard’s timeless tale, has been produced multiple times, although never as entertainingly as the 1935 version, starring the imposing Helen Gahagan as She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed, the eternally beautiful ruler of the lost kingdom of Kor. This would be the only film appearance of Gahagan, a noted stage and opera star who later entered the political arena as Helen Gahagan Douglas. Reportedly, Gahagan was embarrassed by the movie and vowed never to heed Hollywood’s call again. But perhaps she was her own severest critic, since “She” represents Depression Era escapism at its very peak.

The movie was produced by Merian C. Cooper, who’d struck it rich two years earlier with “King Kong.” Those with sharp eyes will note that the enormous gate cutting Kor off from the outside world is the same one which served — for awhile — to hold Kong in his natural habitat on Skull Island. This outrageously opulent adventure tale stars the stoic Randolph Scott as American explorer John Vincey, who ventures into the Arctic to find the story behind a cryptic, 500-year-old letter. Accompanying him are the jolly Holly (Nigel Bruce, later to become a familiar face as Dr. Watson in the Nigel Rathbone “Sherlock Holmes” movies) and the feisty Tanya (Helen Mack), who’s secretly attracted to John.

After surviving an avalanche and battling cave-dwelling cannibals, the intrepid trio comes face to face with a much greater danger, the imperious She, who has been bathing in a flame of eternal life and biding her time for centuries, looking for true love. “I am yesterday and today and tomorrow,” She muses, shortly before deciding John is the man worth waiting half a millennium for. Tanya, however, has other ideas. Thrillingly scored by Max Steiner and featuring backdrops you won’t believe (check out the patio of Holly and Tanya’s apartment), the movie climaxes with a dazzling ceremony in the Hall of Kings, featuring hundreds of extras performing some of the most bizarre choreography ever filmed. That sequence alone would make the movie worthwhile, but it turns out to be only one of the many treasures of “She.””

Sunday [5]

(0544)(0743)

Remembering that Wiki is never going to give anything but an antiChristian slant on any related topic, and if you can pick out the morsels from the modernist secular dross, it’s possible to come up with topics such as were outlined in Sat 31 last evening:

… the secret Bilderberg has begun, with its key issue the depopulation of the world. Then I looked at Philistia, Tel Aviv and Jaffa, then the Book of Numbers, then the difference between Har and Tel in Hebrew*, then took a look at Jerusalem as it’s set out, looked at that Dome over the temple mount, also that Al Aqsa …

I looked at the Pentateuch, wondering where it was placed in central Jewish/Israeli thinking when other parts serm to eclipse it in Jewish thought, e.g. the Talmud, Midrash, Kabbalah and then IYE’s Irving friendly link on horrifying directives in the Talmud, as bad as in the Kran.

Given the long, vast history of Judah/Israel, accepting for now that Mosaic Law governs them, along with the seven Noahide Laws, plus all the other rabbinical literature, just as in Malsi where a large number of Smami have pronounced on doctrine and law … it’s also seen in later (mediaeval and early middle ages) Churches (e.g. the Great Schism) that the real trouble starts once one accepts later, human-written notations as Canon, as every human brings his own mindset and hobbyhorses to what he/she writes.

Obvious, yes? A bit suss when it’s human-directed, a bit iffy … I even have questions of Paul and Luke, though the closer you get to year zero in this, the sounder ground we’re on, given that we know their own biases better. I get an overwhelming feeling, bearing in mind that the Spirit resides in this soul of mine, along with various demons perhaps, that I need to go easier on Paul … I know not why that’s so but it’s pretty clear to my mind.

Which brings me to the core question in Christianity … why was it necessary for Him to appear, incarnated as man at that particular time, at that particular juncture in history … why then?

And in answering that, it seems to me that the scholastic tradition I come from, which has always been the investigative scientific in that one not only ferrets deeply but looks at hypotheses and tests them, before discovering that this by no means suffices with the metaphysical, which can only be treated with a mix of traditions …

… well, it became crystal clear to me that I had to distance myself from any one denomination, from the vast body of regulation, ritual, regalia … all human-added later. The greater the pomp and pointy-hatted outfits, the greater the swinging incense and chanting … the further I was from finding out.

Finding out about why then, at that historical time? Christmas Day. Ditto with Noah. Now I’m simply not going to be tied down by godless sceptics saying there never was a Noah, Moses or whatever … the issue is clearly, to me … not the exact legend about doves and Ararat, all that … but why the metaphysical needed to do it at that particular time?

Sometimes an innocuous aside on the net can answer things, from lesser lights. One excellent reply, imho, was that the course of the geographical region’s various cuts and thrusts, civilisations, from Nebuchadnezzar II to Assyria, Babylon, Rome, the readiness of the Greeks to listen etc. etc. etc. … they would all heavily affect God’s decision.

And into this now I’m going to insert something Jimbo-hobby-horsey from my long saga Masque … in the last section, where metaphysical things started happening (work of semi-fiction, don’t forget) … where I needed to create an explanation of why things happen, with three characters … one like me, one like an amalgam of lasses who is more modern world than “religious”, a gal who keeps asking questions … and then a messenger angel type, who answers the questions in a way humans might comprehend.

This was years ago now, driven by the need to conclude the runaway book somehow, until then going where it had taken me, rather than having a central plan. I did want to end up at Armageddon … but how?

By degrees. Anyway, this is one “trialogue” near the end of Masque:

…..

‘Ask.’

‘Why do you allow this carnage?’ Hugh opened the questioning.

‘I have not the power to prevent it.’

‘Then why doesn’t He give you the power?’

‘To become just like the enemy?’

‘It’s all … horrible!’ cried out Nikki but in her heart, she knew there was far more to come.

‘That man had the chance, the choice, it was offered to him and he might have been saved. He refused.’

‘You should have made him!’ almost shouted Nikki.

Gabriella looked at her and Nikki knew the answer already. ‘To make us no better than the other side, Nicolette? And there is another question – what of the martyrs? Was their sacrifice in vain?’

‘Is there no vengeance for these monsters?’

‘Oh yes, there is vengeance and it is at hand.’

[…]

Gabriella continued. ‘They curse us, curse you, curse their Maker. They are now beyond reason, in that survival state where every pestilence is blamed on good.’

Nikki was sullen. ‘I understand why these people are there but it’s still wrong.’

‘Yes, it is very wrong. Every one of those people you see had the chance to make the choice you have made. Every one of them made his choice, her choice, in the fullness of that knowledge. They hardened their hearts. It is wrong but as free choice is inbuilt, there was no alternative.’

‘So you punished them.’

‘No, I see that you still do not understand. They were not told, ‘Believe or you will be punished.’ It was explained in good time, ‘Believe so that you can escape this terrible fate.’ They were told that we can only rescue those who believe they can be rescued. That is the be all and end all. Now we take a short break, then I shall return and answer more fully.’

[…]

Nikki opened. ‘Why can’t you help those people still on earth – just because they don’t believe, they must die?’

‘Inside both of you is … let me find a word you would understand in human terms … let’s call it a code, an embedded code -’

‘Who embedded it?’

‘Who wrote your DNA? This code alerts us, enables us to assist you, keeps you alive, even now. Without that code, we have no communication channel and we have no mechanism by which we can send aid your way.’

‘You could stop all that below if you wished,’ cried Nikki, her anger rekindled.

‘Again and again, Nicolette, we offered to deliver each and every last person from it but each refused our help. The two of you did not refuse it, therefore here you are.’

[…]

Hugh asked, ‘What about someone good – say a Buddhist holy man who’s paid homage every day? Does he die too?’

‘He has more chance than most because his mind is already open to possibilities – he is given his chance. The world cannot end until all have had their chances – all.’

‘Can those down there change their minds?’

‘Of course – at any time and then they join us here or on one of the other orbs.’

‘And what must they believe in order to get onto one of these orbs,’ asked Nikki.

‘That they can escape that fate by believing they can be saved from it.’

‘Just that?’

‘Just that. Belief seems an easy thing. In reality, it is an insurmountable obstacle for so many.’

They wanted to ask more but felt they’d only be going round in circles if they pursued this line.

[…]

(Gabriella:) You see, it need not be a conscious thing. Every time you know something is right and you do something else, you lay yourself open, you become exposed to control. It also weakens your resolve and following this loss of resolve, your soul slowly dies within you. So far, there are still a few, a minority, who have not signed their souls over. They are the targets of his enmity.’

……

Me again on Sunday morn … it became apparent, the more I read about first and second temples, Noah and so on, that there were resets needed at core times in history. The Jews/Israelis knew what they had to do (see Ten Commandments etc.) but the people were stiff-necked, susceptible to flattery, threat, enticement … they started believing they could not be targetted, that their society was immutable, impervious … but they were infiltrated, drawn away, e.g. to Molech … so easy to fall away … and it was dead easy for the invaders, the Jews/Israelites no longer under the protection of the Covenant.

Haven’t looked at the Ark of the Covenant yet. So, refusing to agree to the terms, they saw the temple razed by the enemy … twice … and what did they have left? Only Law … so they became rabbinical, pharisaic, whited sepulchres … there was huge danger on the horizon, it heeded intervention. They lived by Law rather than by Covenant … the things that were allowed to happen to them was because they’d ignored that binding “Code”.

They were split over legalities, e.g. consubstantiation v transsubstantiation for Christians, when that was not humans’ need to fight over … the core Covenant was/is the important part.

At one point in that chapter of Masque, the idea of timeline was discussed. Rather than time being linear, this Gabriella explained that things did not happen until there was a conjunction of all the right circumstances at that moment in time, space and history, whereby the event could occur.

Thus, the Biden era had to happen because the circumstances were not yet all in place. Now they are. Ditto with the Nietspe list … the circumstances aren’t all there yet.

……

Why on earth would I write all this, this Sunday morn? Well, because of the last paragraph of this:

https://www.thelastditch.org/2025/06/credo-2.html

Seems to me we’re getting close to decision time on many things, time to start preparing for what’s coming.

What’s coming? No idea.

When? No idea … I’m not God. Some say don’t write it that way, write it G-d, out of reverence.

Or out of irreverence, out of denial of the whole word, as decreed by Pharisees. Yes, I’m rabbiting on here … shall stop here.

……

* In Hebrew, “har” (הר) means mountain, while “tel” (תל) means a mound or hill that has accumulated layers of human settlement over time. Essentially, a “tel” is an artificial hill created by the ruins of ancient cities and civilization … see Har Megiddo in Revelation 16:16.

a) These people are en route for the UK… This Saturday morning, before 10:00 a.m., shots were fired in the Loon-Plage migrant camp.

b) The French Police cannot stop them….. French police used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse hundreds of migrants looking to board boats headed for Britain.

c) The Pope encourages them…. Pope Leo XIV calls for ‘open borders’ and condemns ‘spirit of exclusion’.

d) Anyone who had for a moment believed that the hydra of wokery had been tamed and the authoritarian Left defeated should probably look at […] Portugal these past few days.

1. Stream of consciousness

This kicked off in finishing the second of three pieces of “semi-fiction” called Island yesterday and now in net-exploring mode, as are many of you, jumping from topic to topic, then exploring a Quora posting by a guitarist Martin Turner, sent among other things to the inbox … I got onto the Jewish history thing which I hope to return to later but not sure I can write it.

Anyway, Martin T was answering a question about bands which not only became overhyped but came to be disliked for their overblown, even dinosaur image, with the driving force becoming ego-plus instead of “creativity” and honesty … in the eyes of critics and fans anyway.

He mentioned the rightly famous Dire Straits, plus Nickleback (whom I’ve never knowingly listened to and never wish to), ditto with Phil Collins, U2 and so on. One made for TV band who turned out better than their ersatz reputation would lead us to believe were The Monkees … through all of this ran the themes “sold out”, whatever that’s meant to mean, plus “authenticity”, which I can relate to, as we’re excoriating pollies right now for just that. Studio executive music is an aspect of inauthenticity.

One band which seemed to escape were Talking Heads, who right now in June are back in minor headlines for a 60th or something film on Psycho Killer, one of their most famous songs in the 70s … and the psycho is played by Saoirse Ronan whom I think of as perfect for such a role, in a “Carrie” sort of way. Those eyes, that nuttiness.

That’s about all for now on that.
