Wednesday [16 till close of play]

(1700) Evening all … lovely weather here.

23. Further to Reader Bob and my reply earlier

My own attitude at any upcoming election is to first look at all runners in the local area, narrowing it to those vaguely in our area of policy positions, either longtime indy or UKIP or Reform, being wary of Homeland as it looks a controlled opp exercise.

Right … with those names written down I then explore them, trying to see their track record. Now … with the Reform person … what was he/she before? Ex kipper or ex lib dum? Ex Tory? Ex proper conservative? If the balance is towards “good people”, then I’ll vote for him/her.

But if a chancer, such as that lib dum Farage brought in … no way.

What if I end up, in this constituency, with no one to vote for? Then so be it. There is no way I’m voting globalist, EU Uniparty. It’s an individual thing within this local area … will that person push our agenda? If so … there’s one vote.

19. Girl goes in to bat for the boys

In the case of older “boys” like us … much aprreciated, Charlie, though not necessary … water off a duck’s back with those people. With the younger males today though … who knows if they’ll feel “hurt”?

12. John Carter on X

… after the report of the altercation and stabbing came out:

“You could have all said, this one black kid is a psycho, throw the book at him. But you didn’t. You donated en masse to his GiveSendGo, swarmed all over social to defend the brute, and now apparently you’re sending death threats to a reporter covering the facts of the story. You have no idea how clarifying this is for so many white people.”

10. AKH has one up about “helplines”

https://akhaart.blogspot.com/2025/04/the-vcr-helpdesk.html

My question is … does the company think it’s being more helpful with all this “press one” rubbish … or is it all profits … or is it a real attempt by dark forces to get companies to irritate humans beyond reason?

Another question is … do they actually hate us so much or are they just indifferent? Or is it all about them not being inconvenienced? Leave your money at the door and go away?

Corolla

More interesting long term review than I’d have expected.

So long since I drove and am not inclined to again … still think that selling the car and getting the MacBookPro was worth it at that time, with change left over, not because there was anything wrong with the car but it was ageing and all the ancillaries were a pain in Russia … from its yearly MOT to changing road laws to insurance, to traffic plod, to repairs, to not being ripped off … and so much else, it not being my language … well it seemed right for a short time.

Watching this video above … it was horrifying that a car can override your automatic reactions … last time that happened to me was in the USA when my Mustang suddenly decided to stop driving above a certain speed … no thanks, that’s dangerous. As for computerised … wot, a car? It’s true my last had fuel injection which actually worked but that was about the extent of modern world.

And so to this thing above, this Corolla … is the idea to stop people thinking for themselves any more?

Wednesday [5 to 9]

(0656) Morning all. Slept a second sleep, dinn I, eh? Have not a clue what brogue that’s meant to be but it sounds appropriate. Anyway, back again. (0732)

9. Moosh corner

8. Age and sleep

Part of it’s age, part increased exercise, as distinct from poor-sleep when not exercising. I’d rather exercise and sleep in, eat properly. Two sleeps as normal? Normal for the ageing I’d say, along with smaller food portions. Alarming? I’d say not, along with decreased resistance to cold … aim with all of it is to adjust the lifestyle accordingly, rather than feel down.

As for the things we post here, not the most fun things in the main … this place is an outlet. You saw the Victor snippet about those at the pub discussing Reform … that’s one of the main functions of pubs, n’est-ce-pas? Not pleasant, political topics but to have an otlet is good for health … our health at least.

IYE mentioned eyesight … I had a bout of semi-blindness the other day … was wondering if it was computer radiation, combined with all the rest of it … sight came back but was prepared to adjust the blogging if it hadn’t.

Word I think I’m searching for is being “circumspect”, rather than in deep gloom and despair … about all of it. Faith helps keep spirits up.

7. Same old same old about Reform

5. DAD was early today, hours ago

… but was re-crashing about the time he posted. Post item coming up on age and sleep.

a) The European Court of Auditors (ECA) has criticised the European Union for its “opaque” funding practices and “fragmented and unreliable” information regarding the EU funding of non-governmental organisations.

b) The EU Scraps Equality Law in win for Freedom of Conscience. If passed, an EU-wide law would have forced Christian bakers to make cakes for same-sex weddings and [… dot dot dot]

c) According to The Khaama Press, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has labeled those who criticize the mass deportation of Afghan refugees “enemies of Pakistan.” *

……

*So much mendacious hypocrisy imho, not that he wants to do this (who wouldn’t, if sane) but what is never said is that it’s the dross no one wants … Afghan, Somali, Hamas territory. I’m perfectly happy to comply, to euphemise, to call the behaviour of those, which is actually below human acceptability, as wonderfully fine and upright in order to keep the stasi away. Not unlike calling them doctors and engineers.

4. In pubs

To be fair, there was a poll on voting intentions, small sample size, run by one of the anti-Farages, no option for Uniparty … it should have heavily favoured Lowe-Habib … it came out 45% Reform, 35% Lowe-Habib, 12% Other independent. If one adjusts among the “what would have been Reformists” to a realistic level … I’d think it might be 70% “it’s all we have” Faragists, 30% “never Farage-Yusuf”.

a. High strangeness of “Pastor” Paula White.

Trump’s reputation is tanking the longer he associates with that woman. Some say he appointed her to expose her but that just makes him look foolish. He did the same with Fauci and Birx and that went well.

While there are a few I know who do like the films on offer here, ditto with the baroque, classical, jazz … in which case readers/watchers/listeners are taking a chance, no apologies … running my own fave songs in other genres though, even blues, does not go down as well and so I do try to minimise it.

Today … no quiz, no baroque, no film at the ready, and maybe only an hour before the evening politics, starting with Steve and IYE … so I’m going to run about half an hour of a genre of music which is an acquired taste … and when I call it a genre, I really mean an approach to a song structure which is the same, though it crosses several recognised genres.

In short, rather than constructing, building, with highs and lows, it’s the same riff, the same groove throughout, it never varies much, though they throw variations over it here and there to give it st least some counterpoint. It’s good “road trip music” or Tuesday afternoon chilling out music and there were about seven I could have chosen from. I’ve tried to vary the genres below, whilst keeping the groove or slow grind going.

Tuesday [6 to 11]

(1413) Afternoon all … slow day after frenetic opening. (1432)

6. The treacherous Barrett

On the one hand, yes … the MAGA team should have done its due diligence and smoked her out well before … looked at her voting pattern perhaps … but on the other … her own treacherous dissembling confused it. Yet we should have seen that Harris’s supposed attack on her was less than vicious, whereas for Kavanaugh, they pulled out all stops, the demonrats.
