1. A housekeeping sort of op ed
Going to have to issue a weather warning, just as the Beeb has … in our area we still have plus temps but the boiler’s straining as it does. The nature of my set up is that it generally starts going wrong (meaning heating engineer if we can get one, plus Granny Harmer’s new laws) about temp 0 Celsius.
If it does not hold out, winter suddenly becomes a dead pensioner scenario, because though I do have an alternative, it makes the daily cost seven times (from the last time I used it). It then does become heat or eat after some time … provided power does stay connected, not a given.
In short, in my situation, it’s amber alert but for tavern patrons, regular and occasional, it may well be far worse. I entreat those of the praying kind to put one in for our chaps and chapesses … on my immediate list I know of are Ivan, Ripper, Ian, Reader Bob and Isilme, then we get to our more regulars. The downside of our setup here is that we’re relying on our regulars making provision and having prepared for the cold snap.
For those in some sort of bother … or looming bother … there, but for the Grace of God ……….
Cold. windy and wet here too. Just ordered more logs but there’s a delay, no explanation as to why. Still got a few and loads of small branches. We aren’t affected by 2Tier’s granny harming cos we never got it anyway. In order to keep their coffers full they took the average temp and included French Overseas territories in their calculations. Bureaucracy at its finest.
Hadn’t seen 2T’s address to the nation until Foggy mentioned it.
As gargoyle hates me I can’t comment there but I think Foggy is onto something.

Below zero where I am on the Dorset coast. Put some food out for the birds this morning – the small ones really need those calories to stay alive. Sun is out though, and Zuckerberg fired Nick Clegg yesterday, which is nice. Stay warm folks 🙂
