Paraskevidekatriaphilik Day [1 to 3]

(0131) Welcome to this Godly moment of awakening in the wee hours, our time, and these are a most unusual first three items today which, if you’ll cut me some slack, I’ll take us through … remembering of course that our posting order is first below, latest above.

The thought running through my mind upon awakening was just how fragile the internet is … this thing we take for granted, similar to Musk tootling off to Mars … piece of cake yes, whilst bearded orcs gather in hotels and in purpose built housing across the land back here.

Remember what happened to Hobbiton whilst the gallant rag-tag were off fighting the far-away war for civilisation? (0309)

3. Our lives just now are dependent on Peter Principlers

Apologies for the mongrel word principlers but you’ll get the drift … Biden, Wray, Schiff, Harris, those judges, AOC, Sunak, Badenoch, Starmer, Reaves (sic) … they are supposedly in charge … in thrall more like … whilst this thing we take for granted, similar to Musk tootling off to Mars … piece of cake yes … all the while, bearded orcs gather in hotels and in purpose built housing across the land back here, poised to pounce and convert us or slaughter us, as is their whim.

Most ordinary people, previously used to sedentary lives of civilised non-stress, relative to, say, the middle-east, Africa, the Ukraine, many on benefits or work from home, whilst drug and paedo in the young is rampant and pensioners struggle to heat their homes, slaves to the indoctrinating MSM, resenting us calling all this out, as we warn: “Wake up! Wake up!” …

… many of us are ag(e)ing … unevenly … two partners ag(e)ing at different rates and what we need, apart from entertainment, is little or no shocks to the system, n’est-ce-pas? We need predictability, not being interrupted, not having things piled upon us … I for one cannot handle, these days, more than one thing at a time … no multitasker, moi.

Thus I for one take things in series, not parallel, do one job at a time, knowing that if I don’t, the whole thing falls down. I leave notes to myself, need A5 sheetlets to jot things down on. I need to go to NOWP after this, check that it’s all been posted and lettered, then another shot at sleep, part two, with deliveries coming later.

The words “Peter Principlers” is cruel when applied to good people, people we love or like, with good hearts and moral compasses, competent within the range we can expect … but how can we expect a near 24 year old with a certain amount of life experience to be a guru … at least she is on an upward learning curve:

Bannon should know better, like a proud dad, that his protege can only do so much, sharp as she is … yes, I’m referring to the current war room episode again. This observation stems from love, not from the opposite. We need seasoned warriors just now … there are a few around on that team, thank goodness.

Over here? Looks to me like Reform or nothing, this time with Nigel hopefully not selling out.

2. Paraskevidekatriaphilia

The word for the fear of Friday the 13th is paraskevidekatriaphobia. It’s a combination of Greek words, with paraskeví meaning “Friday”, dekatreís meaning “13”, and phóbos meaning “fear”.

As it’s a lucky day for me as a rule, then clearly the “phobia” part had to be changed to “philia” … however, that’s too close to the current blight on the world, starting with “paedo”, so it seemed better to change the “c” for a “k”, as in the post title.

1. Series and parallel

The internet is sooooo fragile, where one broken link in the chain, from airtime provider to blogpost … only one required … is sufficient to plunge the Christmas fairy lights, and the room, into darkness:

In a train of thought flow, I thought to brush up on series and parallel:

Series and parallel are two types of electrical circuits that differ in how components are connected and how current flows through them:

Series:

Components are connected in a single loop, one after the other, with no branches. The current flows through all components at the same rate. The voltage across the circuit is the sum of the voltage drops across each component.

Parallel:

Components are connected on separate branches of the wire. The current can take different paths through the circuit. The voltage across all components is the same. The total current is the sum of the currents flowing through each component.

Here are some other differences between series and parallel circuits:

  • Wiring: Series circuits use less wiring than parallel circuits.
  • Failure indication: Series circuits are useful for warning when a component has failed.
  • Solar panels: Solar panels are generally connected in series to increase voltage and prevent reverse current.
  • Speakers: Speakers are usually wired in parallel to improve sound quality and get more power from an amp.

Many circuits are a combination of series and parallel circuits.

  1. Have to disagree on some aspects of #1
Series circuits are NOT useful for warning when a component has failed, because any break in the circuit will stop ALL the individual components from working. The classic example being a string of low voltage Christmas tree lights – one bulb blows or works loose and you have to test every one to find the culprit. But in the larger strings seen at fairgrounds & seaside resorts, normal 230v bulbs are wired in parallel. If one fails it’s instantly obvious, and the others will continue unaffected.
Solar panels (at least roof mounted ones) are connected in series not so much to increase voltage but to reduce current, and therefore resistive losses in the long run of cable down to the inverters.
