(1447) Afternoon all. (2003) Oops, evening all … time got away, slightly ill patch.
18. We know about Grifty and her world-weary manner
… well this is the other gal, Shonna, who reacts to Columbo episodes. I’ve gone a bit off Peter Falk since discovering he was neither the nice man nor cool dude some of us thought … plus how many times can we watch Columbo?
On the other hand, I’ve not seen this episode, this strange plot but Shonna carries us through with way too much detail … not a bad way to spend the remaining time before fireworks.
17. IYE says happy new year in comments
… and I should at least write something I suppose, as well as thanks-heaps to all patrons for sticking with nourishing, then unherdables … it warr a rough year, all considered.
This is going to be my NYE greeting across the sites where I write … hoping and praying this coming year will not be a washout for all those of good will … there are some good signs in America, none yet in Europe or in the southern hemisphere … but miracles do occur.

2. The left certainly network (verb)
… but so do we. For example, this is Charlotte Gill, reposted by Vicky, a longtime kipper, now Reform:
“The main things I find in my research (of the deep state/ whatever you want to call it) are:
– The Left are insanely incestuous, in terms of funding/ coordination/ networks, albeit you are supposed to think that their ideas/ different wings (eg. activist groups) sprout up organically, rather than working in concert/ being spurred by funders.
– Lefties tend to splinter their funding. I’ll give you an idea of what I mean. Imagine there’s Funder 1. Funder 1 gives £20k each to Group A and Group B. Group A then gives Group B £20k. Basically, you might as well have Funder 1 give Group B £40k and cut out the middleman. But it kinda looks better on accounting documents when you splinter up the funding this way. Group B gets funding from two sources, giving it the air of being an institution many want to put their funds into. I see funding move around like this all the time.
– At the same time, left-wingers are “collectivists” and this extends to the way they run corporations. They work as a sort of “corporate pack” – all singing from the same hymn sheet and creating funding infrastructure that keeps all of their wings alive.
– Ultimately the Left are planning some sort of global takeover, whatever you want to call it. Laugh at me/ call me crazy. But you could just go onto the C40 website and start from there. This stuff takes months to begin to understand. I’m four months in and now work with a “map” team – of internet sleuths – who put the networks into graphs. There are five of us and it still takes a lot of time.
– The plotters are a mixture of billionaires with odd/ Malthusian views (seriously, depopulation does seem to be a theme) and/ or rich people with shares in renewables (aka enjoying climate change hysteria because it means we do dumbass-energy policies which they banked on long before we knew what carbon capture meant). They use young people/ Marxists as useful idiots, to achieve their ideological aims and/ or get good returns on their shares in renewables.
– Left-wing funding is 10000000 x worse than its right-wing equivalent.
– But the Left use a series of tactics to stop people noticing what baddies they are. For instance, deflecting or projecting (“Tufton Street!” “Elon Musk!”).
– The Right are extremely naive. They just have no concept of what they’re up against and spend too much time writing opinion articles. Not a problem, per se, but we need an army of us examining funding networks. The stakes are very high and this crap has to be addressed and then pulled out. Hoping for the best will not work. #Afuera ”

“Something very interesting and openly obvious is happening amid the backlash that Elon Musk and the Silicon Valley network are facing to their H1B position.
Effective December 26, Elon Musk changed the Twitter algorithm to diminish those voices who would openly confront his network of supporters within Silicon Valley and beyond. If large follower Twitter accounts, like those of Musk himself, David Sacks, Vivek Ramaswamy and Musks’ promoted network of influencers begin blocking accounts on the platform, then the voices of those accounts get purposefully diminished by the algorithm.
Much like having a VIP section that can remove people from the audience, Musk is pushing opposing viewpoints into the background of the public square.”

Every few days there are dire weather warnings, sadly for the fear mongers there is rarely more than a storm in a teacup. They don’t stop do they? This latest headline says it all.
Right, eight inches of snow every hour in January. That’s 8x24x31÷12=496 feet of snow. Now that’s what I call climate change, unless it’s a sloppy headline and they mean something else entirely.
(1001) Morning all … Another snooze coming on, Laze and Gem. (1313)

I’ve had this pic of “that Alex woman”, as is her moniker, for over a week … there’ve been a dozen more since then … none capturing Alex’s sassy niceness and decency … all trying to look stunning, celebs, haughty or Rachel from Complaints … as if that’s what anyone wants in a woman.
I want Toodles, Isilme, Julia, Kass, Moosh, Bobbie, Irina, Darlene, Lisa, Deryl, Nicky, Alex … what I call “real” women, proper women.

7. Laura is becoming indispensable reading at TCW (see blogrolls for link)
Must admit to being happily surprised to see her tone in print … truly a blow for “goodness”, without knowing her personal life … you’ll know them by their fruits it’s said.
IN WHAT I can only assume was a final act of revenge on the Telegraphbefore moving to the Times, Fraser Nelson served up one of the worst pieces written by any journalist anywhere on Planet Earth in 2024. This includes Justine McCarthy and Fintan O’Toole at the Irish Times.
Women of a more conservative bent … meaning not the Woke freakerati with nosebones and purple hair, with brainwashed opinions to match … pretty much follow Mother Mary’s example and notice everything, keeping it stored in their hearts.
Us men? More blunt, can be incisive when needed, we’re more the bulldozing type. How many thousand times must it be said but the two together … male and female … are the true alchemy. One power in the universe wishes for them to work together to keep out evil … the other lesser power wishes to put enmity there. That statement in itself is a can of worms, a Pandora’s box, so I’m not even going to try.
But we’ve been watching Fraser Nelson’s shenanigans too under the radar and have been asking ourselves WTH? And hands up all those venerable readers stopping by here who’ve cooled a bit on Kathy and Laura since the “religious” overtones have started coming through at TCW?
Mind you, not all the guest articles are first rate … Lord Toby has some pretty incisive writers there … and some lesser ones too.
(0317) Dark out there and cold but it will be far colder and windier in two days … IYE’s comment? More near the end of this first long ramble this morning. (0424)
1. Aardman are at it again
There were no indications in the review that it was particularly Woke but it may be or not that the two reviewers were Woke and therefore unable to see it. Aardman themselves seem to have latched onto our current zeitgeist …
That review needs no embellishment from me … I’d like to make a grumpy comment about the two grumpy curmudgeons doing the presenting though. To audiences out in cyberland, they might know these two and all is well … to me who knows nowt about them, they seem grumpy beyond reason … very older male I’m afraid … and I wish he’d stop waving his hand around in front of the camera.
Now I know there’s older female syndrome as well with its own peculiaririties but in this post item, I’ll stick to the grumpy old male … and the gripe? That the curmudgeonry of others can be funny from a distance but having to sit through it at close quarters? Boring, I’m afraid … there’s a quiet menace in the tones of both, as if they’ll brook no dissent, not unlike Starmer … but to cut them some slack, perhaps they’re unaware how it comes across, perhaps I’m just imagining it.
I’m struggling to find a way to put this at 0329, having awoken from the first sleep and before, hopefully, a second but … well let’s just say that no household can have two such grumpy males under the same roof. We can easily entertain a mate, a few mates and spouses, for some time and I’m most lucky that MMUTR is just as irascible, grumpy and provocative as I am … with one added extra … we both know it, know the consequences if we push it … plus both are aware of the world’s current nastiness, such that we do cut the other some slack and even have a laugh.
Watch that all go wrong next time, having now said it. 😟😁
Point I’m making is that we do become set in our ways, just as things are falling apart out there. Those such as our patrons at Unherdables, with a keen sense of things rapidly changing and having to head them off at the pass, to plan ahead … do have … hmmmm … a head start perhaps.
Particularly if we’re quite aware that are territorial males, we like change less and less, we want our space under our personal control … and other males are not remotely interested in another man dominating that space … before we even consider the woman factor … that our health has a say in this as it deteriorates, esp. in this awful Gates winter, esp. as the deep state is certainly trying to kill us, no question.
Bring a woman into this, with her own set of needs and grumpiness, perhaps not coping as well … seems that it’s all going to need a whole heap of prayer to the trad Trinity. If the two are so used to one another, cut slack at the right times, to the right extent … then any Ultimatum Time can be headed off … good thing too.
There’s a very alpha young male next door here, with a forthright yet vulnerable female … we go to great lengths to cut the others slack … because we know the consequences of not so doing … plus a good mood across this rabbit warren high-landing is crucial to calm … we all want this, we want our collective space clean and workable.
Now these two vloggers doing the review of Vengeance Most Fowl … they’re used to running their own shows, controlling their own space … but but but … they’re not necessarily at our level of world awareness as a result of all the rabbit burrow diving … if they’re normies, I mean … rather, they might think they have the world summed up in their infinite wisdom as they see it … and I see precisely this going on with Trump, Elon and MAGA right now … we’re seeing a lot of “”go F yourself”, “bggr off” and so on.
At the same time … long suffering MAGA, trying to bring down these deep state bstds … while normies remain quite unaware or maybe vaguely aware that things ain’t good … our lot are also quite unwilling to cede any ground, esp. on the question of bloody invaders … Musk and Rammydammy totally unaware of the depth of feeling behind Trump’s victory over the evil muvvers. Plus they’re, we’re in fact, all irascible, unbending males … plus females.
One thing the review does point out is that Aardman have latched onto the central question quite well: “Why?”
Why must there even be a Feathers McGraw in the first place, wreaking vengeance? Why does he hate law and order, tradition, culture so much? And the High Techies with their “tech solutions for everything” (Wallace) … change change change for the sake of it, new new new the whole time … why?
Innovation, they say.
“Bleedin’ well why?” we retort. “Why can’t you just leave that which works reasonably well alone? Why must you interfere in other people’s lives? Why not just interfere in your own and see how it goes?”
Oh no, can’t be doing that, we must interfere in what we see as lesser people’s needs … the Innovators say … plus the kickbacks of course.
Perfect example (I’m assuming you’ve watched the review above) is that Gromit is dismayed. He needs no tech robot … he’s perfectly happy doing the garden work but oh no … Wallace in his Infinite Wisdom thinks Gromit will be appreciative, the poor indentured servant … but Gromit is not appreciative of the new interference … and so it goes on.
Message in the show, the review, this post? That there are certainly things which need taking care of … my boiler for a start, already showing signs and still December, that my calm, happy life blogging at you is due for another rude awakening, where my lekky bill jumps from £1.60 a day to £14 a day while the boiler’s out, which impinges on my food buying, which impinges on health and mood … you know how it all goes.
Take care of things? I shall be … whilst I remain compost mentis … and as long as some bstds don’t start trying to interfere … at the same time trying to keep the Unherdables show on the road by backing off and just allowing you chaps and chapesses to do your own thang in your own time.
All of us … all … need respite right now … need our personal systems working … need to tick off our own checklist of chores … that’s about it.
(1630) Evening all, not great right now, various forms of aches and lurgy, sleep is the main aid to recovery. A bit of blogging, then a snooze. A bit shaky right now, strange internal noises, but ok overall.
11. Word association (football) and confused memories
Mind wanders … just looked up when Gladiators ran (when Vinnie appeared) and that seems right … sometimes we can think we were at something but we weren’t … could not have been. For example, I could have sworn I was here for the Fish Hurricane but it was late 1987 and I was at the Perth America’s Cup at New Year 86/87, then probably worked in Oz that year.
I know I came back here the day after West Ham won the FA Cup coz I was at Speakers Corner but that seems to have been May 1980. Interesting, as I was certainly in Melbourne for the Oz coup d’etat and I was at the Leonda restaurant when John Kerr turned up … that had to be 1975.
Trying to date other events … my football team was Leeds United as a teenager … mates loved Billy Bremner but mine was always Peter Lorimer. What years were they? I confess I switched to the Crazy Gang once I was in London to live and looked likely to be for the foreseeable … think I’d been in Oz again. The Wombles had won the FA Cup, so I shamelessly followed them … then they gave the club away to bleedin’ Milton Keynes or something. Milton Friedman. I know we were 6th at one point, Everton were about to be relegated and they went and won. Everton are a pain … nice colours though.
Confession … my fave football colours are West Ham’s and Villa’s. The primary colour, by whichever name you want … claret, burgundy, crimson, maroon … was also the main colour of my fave car … then when I met Toodles, she said that if I went for Auburn, we had nothing more to say … so I looked at Bama’s colors and that was that.
Anyway, my Dad was the one I blame for Leeds … we were Park Avenue for many years and then he went for Leeds. Uh huh. Liverpool were the main rivals.
The other thing was being places when something happened. I was in Russia when they had their crash … I had to take my money in notes from the bank (armed guards) in black binbags. I was back here for our own crash … when was that? I was in Northern Ireland during the last of The Troubles. I was also in San Diego when the Americans were practising for the next America’s Cup, off San Diego.
I missed the Winter of Discontent by a year. I remember the Big Freeze … must have been a kid then.
10. Andy on slebs
Despite having had no tele since around 1997 or so, when it was stolen, meaning I missed the “reality TV” thang completely, missed Cowell’s thang, missed the entire Blair/Saville era, avoided Strictly like the plague (easy with no tele) … despite that, I’d see the occasional clip, esp. on youtube, thought him to be a creep, a big-noter but thought no more on’t … rather, my eyes were fixed on Dolphin Square, Cyril and Sir Cliff, innocent or not, the Jersey orphanage etc.
What was my last TV era, not that it’s of any interest? Well … Gladiators, Cilla and her chooks, Rab C Nesbitt … that’s about all I can recall. Anyway, ta Andy for bringing this up … it certainly gels with the other things we know of … I’ve no hard evidence but TOTP also seemed creepy to me … always.
And what of us, ourselves? Not so much in this way but in others … (cough) … look, we ain’t no saints … at best, we’re reformed sinners … with relapses … but I was only twice invited to such things … once by a Lord Mayor and once by one of our high flying parents. Think a bullet was dodged there, just quietly.
On the other hand, I’ve written about such things, obliquely, in the novel Masquerade, which no one but three I know of will ever read … good thing too. In that book, I had the former PM spilling the beans … which is neither here nor there. Stay well, Andy, stay vigilant, ta again.

8. Breanna Morello on a charming culture
”A mother and father are under arrest after they attempted to mu*der their daughter in front of her high school. Th(e) video allegedly shows Zahraa Subhi Mohsin Ali & Ihsan Ali attempting to carry out an ‘honor kil*ling’ in Washington after their daughter refused to marry an older man in Iraq. The 17-year-old victim ran away from home when her parents attempted to put her on a plane to Iraq. The victim’s father was immediately arrested, but her mother attempted to flee to Canada. The victim’s mother was just recently caught.”
