Look at those three counties in SW Scotland. They used to be referred to, locally, as The County (Dumfriesshire), The Stewartry (Kirkcudbrightshire) and The Shire (Wigtonshire).
And while we are at it, bring back the classic subdivisions of counties e.g. for Ayrshire (Carrick, Kyle, and Cunningham).
And that map: I’ve never heard anyone mention “Rossshire and Cromartyshire”: it was always Ross & Cromarty. Moreover, where the devil has Shetland gone? By tradition it lives in a box in the Moray Firth.
And another thing: by ancient convention (and like so much other ancient tradition in Britain this can be traced all the way back to, oh, the 19th century) the county is spelled Dunbartonshire and the town Dumbarton. I hope they correct their map accordingly.
