Tuesday [1 to 5]

(0513) Cunning plan today is not to be flooded by US election news … certainly to run bulletins at intervals if there’s something significant to report. More on Guy Fawkes and build up to Nov 11, various other news items, two more from Isilme. (0622)

5. To an extent, having been in the languages game

… I feel I can contribute to this discussion:

Every language has it’s high form, e.g. Haupt-Deutsch and its regionals, e.g. Schweizer-Deutsch … High or literary Russian, then street jargon … differences in intonation iz Moskvi to regionals. In English, it’s RP v estuary English with glottal stops v regionals … champion, champion. In Chinese, Mandarin IS the high Chinese, whereas Cantonese is the usual British variety.

Long answer then is yes … mangling, regionally and per class … Mandarin is mainly in the written form that it’s universal, therefore yes … English, as far as it can be accepted as such on foreign lips, might be more universal.

At a minimum, I’d suggest an investigation take place, not a whitewashing “inquiry”. Of course it won’t happen, certainly not internally.

JH: The issue with 4 and 3 each day is that you’re getting the Jewish view … firstly, which kind? Secondly … on Trump, they’re very pro … I use the headlines for further investigation more than confirmation but by the same token, they do usually turn out right as they have the inside “skinny” on what’s going down. Given the way the Hofts were bankrupted, they do seem over target.

a) The violence in France continues…… A fight involving around 15 people has left four minors, travelling to school in Ozoir-la-Ferrière, north-central France, injured—two of them seriously. The violent attack prompted one of Marine Le Pen’s MPs to criticise the ruling class for “the same silence and stammering.”

b) I expect that you have heard of the King and Queen of Spain were pelted with mud when they visited the flooded area of suburbs of Valencia……. One journalist reported that it was a “criminal group of right-wingers at the centre of the attack”.

c) The annual deficit of France, which had been expected to be 4.6 per cent of GDP for the latest year, jumped to 6.1 per cent, which the newly installed conservative Prime Minister Michel Barnier, has described as a “sword of Damocles” hanging over France.

1. US and Alberta Election notes

Draino:

“I was confused why Hillary Clinton came to campaign in Tampa last weekend. Florida early voting is showing a potential 10+ point blowout for Trump and it’s a waste of time to campaign for Kamala. But then I got a call tonight from an election data insider that shocked me. Hillary didn’t come to Tampa to stump for Kamala. She came to stump for longtime Dem Rep Kathy Castor. Early voting data shows her formerly safe blue Congressional seat CD-14 districted in the bluest parts of Tampa/St Pete is in jeopardy as Hillsborough County becomes redder and redder. There is barely any media coverage of this but the Hillary visit is a big tell. This would be a HUGE flip and could foretell other Democrat weaknesses nationwide.”

The issue for me, and it maybe should be for most readers, is that though Draino is a take no prisoners type, he’s still susceptible to confirmation bias, as we all are tempted to be. As Kenny Rogers sang … there’ll be time enough for counting when the dealing’s done.

WSA is more central, which might mean more pessimistic, might not … we have to place ourselves as realistically as we can:
