Monday [1 to 3]
(0635) Awoke a short time ago, nit mightily by spam, which could be me, could be as a result of my backend, ha ha or could be anything, even WP. No matter. Here’s a bit of doggerel I read on the loo minutes ago:
The rain, it raineth on the just
And also on the unjust fella
But chiefly on the just, because
The unjust steals the just’s umbrella.
- Lord Bowen (1835-94), in W.Sichel, Sands of time, 1923. There ya go. (0827)
3. I ran this on X and shall run it many times, at intervals
This was in a sorority locker room before the “modern” girls demanded it be painted over:

This was a few days ago, on X:

I imagine a typical conversation might go:
Her: Hi!
Me: Hello there. Excuse me … am I addressing a lady, a THOT or one of those Woke feminazis with dyed hair who glues herself to roads? Just to know what I can and cannot say, also … I don’t know where you’ve been.
Her: Do you always address ladies this way?
Me: Ah, thought you might be a lady, forgive me. I’m also well aware that men are some of the worst hypocrites, cheats, demanding impossible criteria in a lady which they would never apply to themselves. Plus many get violent and dismissive, esp. those from certain demographics.
Her: Ah, so we are on the same page after all. (I invite her into the cafe, opening the door, sure there’s enough cash on me.)
(Seated, she opens the banter) Anyway, Mr. James, what should it matter where I’ve been? Do you plan to take my virginity at our first meeting or indeed any time before our courtship and marriage?
Me: Touché.
2. DAD at 1123:2 for Monday and welcome back
a) The following opinion piece illuminates an internecine squabble in the Socialist Party of France. (JH: It relates to the deathcult)…
b) After not receiving any help from the police, French farmers decided to take matters into their own hands to get rid of an illegal gypsy camp that had set up on their land.
c) According to Sud Ouest newspaper, the Saint-Pierre church in Aulnay-de-Saintonge [not far from me], a 13th-century Romanesque jewel, was vandalised on the evening of Friday, August 1, 2025.
d) I found this video, but have not been able to confirm the details. If it is correct, then I predict a division in the Roman Catholic Church in the near future. (JH: I’ve not looked through yet, still loading Monday 1-5, but shall do, though my next stop will be Ann Barnhardt, plus anything on X.

The first thing I saw, after the piece of doggerel, was a note from DAD that he could not get a youtube to expand at 1123:2. That may well have been so on his device, with his provider or sometimes, it can be ours … we are subject to two devices, providers, ancillary functionaries. It only takes one setting in Settings to bgr it up, scuse my French.
Unfortunately for us, the only way is testing variable after carisble, one at a time, to see what “grabs” or not. As it turns out, it’s working here, so might be across Britland, only readers can say.
Second point is my numbering at 1123 … it neglects Andy and DAD’s second … that’s because it is related to DAD 1123:2, rather than a new theme. The second YT url is the same video as the first. So it’s not snubbing in any way, chaps, just a quirk of the numbering system.

16. Rolf Norfolk with an interesting post
“It is an ancient maxim derived from Roman law and Edward I quoted it in 1295: ‘what touches all should be approved by all’ (ut quod omnes tangit ab omnibus approbetur.) So was launched his Model Parliament that invited representatives of the Church, aristocracy and commoners. It was intended to get agreement for taxes to fund the King’s military adventures on the Continent.”:

(1419) Afternoon all … bleah out there. Jazz a bit later, then politics again around 1700. (1445)

14. Beyond any humane behaviour whatever
… sheer filth.

It’s the last part of Andrew’s which interests me even more … it’s the key to the whole thing … bringing that lot, finally, to account.

An episode from tele
Why bring you an episode from a series I was never crazy for? Reasons why not below the show … reasons why to post it now though … weeellll, it’s lighter after the heavier material this morning.
Now for the series … what, imho, did not work? Tony Curtis. Alongside Roger Moore.
Curtis was ok in so many shows and films over six decades which required a NY Jewish Hungarian … there were certainly roles for him … but again imho, The Persuaders was not one of those … The List of Adrian Messenger was, for example. Curtis was a boy from the wrong side of the tracks, he did it hard and I can sympathise. While some things were easy enough for me too, there were always certain things in my upbringing which did not sit easily with the genteel, belied by my turn of phrase.
Plus, standing beside Roger Moore, in a British series, more diminutive in many ways, less polished … he chose to overact … plus Lew Grade played up the class differences … maybe not deliberately but it certainly turned out that way … it might seem strange for a fan of Roger Moore but methought Curtis was given a raw deal in this series … there was something slightly de-Grade-ing about what he’d accepted (sorry about that pun). He was too intense for mine as well.
Annette Andre in this episode? A bit wasted. I liked most of the repeat actresses in The Saint but in this episode … hmmmm. Just an opinion, mind.
Now, one more thing … filmmakers’ ideas, in the 60s, of “hip” music which the “groovy” set were dancing to … aaaggghhhh! A good word for it is “naff”. Truly naff and Moore and Curtis both “dancing”, gyrating, at the end with Annette Andre … I’m close to saying sickening … at a minimum ludicrous … I switched off. Even the denouement just before it was not wonderful.
But John Barry’s not getting off the hook that easily. To my mind, his scores in the Bond series and others could be excellent, most seemed to agree on that … but in his notion of “hip” young people’s music? Aaaggghhhh again! However … not wishing to wrong John Barry, were he not the actual composer of the incidental music:

Orbán land
Sunday [6 to 10]
(1045) Dislocated day so far but a long sleep-in is alway welcome. Phone off, doorbell disconnected, another snooze coming up, plus Sunday lunch … recharging batteries on all devices, inc. moi. Hope you are too. (1131)
10. The way children are brought up … part one
… part two after some music, then a TV episode.

9. The Panda
8. Wow, an item by a mere male for once, ha ha

Just scrutinise the wording there … “sensitive” information … why “sensitive”? Because the whole bloody country is up in arms over it? While they fly in invaders by night, all organisations colluding? And at the same time, threaten anyone calling it out with the knock on the door by multiple thug plod, followed by incarceration? Go to that Lord Toby item on over 60s.
Very clever … do the young care about over 60s? Well they should if they have parents (plural). And possibly inheritance.
7. How long can Rupert last before they do for him?

6. This, if true, is a disgrace
… but we knew that:
Not telling you anything you don’t already know but you read about Thune himself refusing to pass the nominations before the recess, then preventing the recess by convening every few days to prevent it being called a recess.
I read about “two grinning hags behind him while he said it” … was this Murkowski and Collins? And now it’s passed to Schumer, the minority leader, to “negotiate” with Trump, ostensibly for money.
What I get from this … over here with our own dirty politics, as you’ll see in items 7 and 8 in a few mins … is a sense of incredulity (or maybe I can quite believe it) that a minority (plus the closeness of the minority is through dirty tricks anyway) … that a minority can control govt policy, with the connivance of Senate and House leaders.
It’s been said by many on X, inc. senators and reps, that this is just running the clock down on the Trump presidency, goading DJT into a-constitutional action under emergency powers.
What hugely concerns me is the presence of Wiles in the White House. She is bad news.
France and Poland

(0538) Morning all … n1 below had to go up on X, so it took some work. Plenty more backed up ready too, sorry to have to warn good readers, ha ha. (0631)

2. DAD returns
I was unable to post this on NOWP this morning.
Sunday.
Rumours of my death, and/or that of my computer are premature.
a) Is the West on the brink of civil war?
A question that would have seemed absurd a decade ago, is becoming ever more prevalent. In recent weeks, there have been anti-migration demonstrations from Spain to Ireland to Poland. There is no indication that they will not become more common in the months ahead.

b) The Second Coming of the ‘Camp of the Saints’.
A prophetic French novel once dismissed as racist now reads like a blueprint for Western self-destruction.
[DAD – Read the book, and weep for the West.]
c) Von der Leyen’s ‘Explanation’ for missing Pfizer Texts fools nobody.
Just when you thought EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen had already hit rock bottom in terms of dodging accountability in the Pfizergate scandal, she picked up a shovel and started digging.
d) France to deport Palestinian woman over antisemitic post featuring Hitler, halts evacuations from Gaza.
